Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised?
Jeremy Corbyn has launched his manifesto plans which include taking parts of Britain’s energy industry back into public ownership alongside the railways and the Royal Mail in a radical proposal that promises an annual injection of £6bn for the NHS and £1.6bn for social care.
Nationalisation is the transfer of a private business to state ownership or control. The worry is that back under state control investment would dry up and productivity would stagnate.
Rail networks would be nationalised as each private franchise expires. Royal Mail would return to public ownership and a state owned rival company to the existing Big Six private energy firms would be created.
What are your views? Should the state do more and own what we use and need? Are you happy with the service you currently receive and are you getting value for money? Have you seen an improvement in rail services since they have been privatised? Would re-nationalising the railways be a backward step?
