Top 5 Summer Destinations for Solo Travellers
Are you looking to get some time away for yourself this coming summer? Inghams are here to help with their fantastic deals for singles such as great discounts on hand-picked hotels and no extra charges for travelling solo.
Whether you’re happy to set off on your own or are looking to socialise and meet new people, Inghams have superb resort staff that are always on hand to help you and answer any questions should you need them. They also provide some fantastic and popular excursions that are perfect for mixing with other like-minded travellers.
To help you pick the right resort, they’ve put together their top five destinations for solo travellers looking to immerse themselves in the local culture, scenery, walking and more during their holiday.
5. Desenzano, Lake Garda, Italy
A highlight of southern Lake Garda (we’ll talk about the northern part later), Desenzano has so much to offer. It’s a picturesque lakeside town with two harbours and two public beaches, meaning there are plenty of focal points to the place. If you’re a cycling fan, make sure to go on the ‘Tower of San Martino’ cycle tour which is bookable locally with your Inghams resort representative and will take approximately 4 hours.

4. Mayrhofen, Austria
If you’ve never explored the glorious Austrian Tyrol then Mayrhofen has your name on it! This sublime resort boasts endless walking opportunities. Inghams provide two Guided Wanderwalks which explore different areas of the resort. They are also offering all their Mayrhofen guests a free excursion to Innsbruck during their stay. You can also have a great day out learning to Yodel with a local tutor on the world’s first yodel hiking trail.

3. Zermatt, Switzerland
One of the world’s finest ski resorts, Zermatt is also a great summer destination. With the imposing Matterhorn above, there are some fantastic vistas. August is great month to visit, particularly during the first two weeks which see the celebrations for Swiss National Day as well as the Swiss Food Festival and the Folklore Festival. Inghams recommend exploring the Gornergrat railway and an excursion to Saas Fee which is only 45 minutes away.

2. Malcesine, Lake Garda, Italy
Located on Lake Garda’s north-eastern shores, Malcesine sits in the shadow of Monte Baldo which is accessible via cable-car and provides great views up and down Lake Garda. It’s also a great walking spot with some great terrain to cover. Malcesine itself is pedestrianised and its 13th century castle towers above the skyline. The Lake Garda ferries can take you across to other brilliant Lake Garda towns such as Riva and Limone.

1. Kitzbühel, Austria
It’s only when the snow melts away and Kitzbühel’s colourful buildings are fully revealed in beaming sunshine that you can appreciate just how pretty a town it is. It plays host to many events throughout the summer, followed up by Almabtrieb and a Wine Festival in September. There are alpine flower gardens and wild animal parks to visit in addition to guided excursions to Berchtesgaden, Salzburg and Lake Annecy.
