A Classic Mediterranean Cruise Experience with P&O

Cruise getaways are becoming more and more popular amongst all types of travellers, offering an easy and hassle-free escape from the mundanity of day to day life, going above and beyond what most people expect from a regular land-based holiday and visiting a plethora of wonderful ports and exciting destinations across the world – whilst only needing to unpack once.

These are just some of the reasons that persuaded me to take to the seas aboard P&O Cruises’ Ventura after booking early with to make sure I got a price to suit my budget. I was under the impression that P&O offered the classic cruise experience and I was not disappointed. In fact, my time both at sea and in port truly exceeded my expectations.

I’m a firm believer in good first impressions, and therefore could not have been happier with how smoothly everything panned out right from the start of my cruise. After reluctantly handing over my luggage at airport check-in – an experience I am far from fond of – I’m sure you can imagine my delight when I arrived in my embarkation port, and after a seamless boarding process, walked through the door of my spacious and comfortable cabin to find my bags already sat there waiting for me.

From then on things only got better and as we set sail, I set out to explore the ship. The first thing I noticed was the feeling of complete peace and tranquillity across Ventura’s 14 impressive passenger decks. None of my fellow guests appeared to have a care in the world and every crew member I met was friendly, attentive and conscientious. I especially enjoyed the ship’s many marvellous dining venues – of which Marco Pierre White’s The White Room was a particular favourite of mine – each serving an array of delectable and carefully prepared dishes. I was only disappointed that I didn’t have time to try them all!

The ship’s restaurants were just the beginning; as I went on to discover a wealth of other splendid on-board features, from the extravagant two-deck theatre with show-stopping performances and cinema screenings, to the impressive spa, gym and sports facilities.

This time to unwind on-board was greatly appreciated after a long and exciting day in port. I relished the chance to experience all of the incredible destinations on my itinerary – from the iconic Italian city of Venice to the ancient metropolis of Kotor on Montenegro’s scenic coastline – and took away memories from my time ashore that will surely last a lifetime.

I’m especially thankful that I booked my P&O cruise early with Booking as early as possible made sure that I secured a fantastic price and’s specialist P&O Cruise Concierge were exceptionally helpful in guiding me through every stage of my booking, from my first enquiry right up until the end of my voyage.
