Why you should be setting sail on an ocean cruise this year
Cruise holidays are booming, and it’s not difficult to see why.
No stressful airport check-ins, no lugging your bags from A to B, no traffic jams. Instead, smooth sailing along picturesque coastlines, day trips to a multitude of charming destinations, an insight into new cultures, and sumptuous on-board dining and entertainment.
Relax on the deck as you glide across seas to Europe’s medieval cities or North America’s leafy coastline, seeing it ablaze with colour during the fall months. With all the logistics and navigation taken care of you’re free to relish the best bits of any holiday, choosing to be as active or relaxed as you wish, and enjoying the on-board comforts as you sail.

Inspire yourself by browsing Newmarket Holidays’ expansive collection of cruising itineraries, encompassing journeys to Europe, round the world odysseys, festive weekend breaks and mini taster cruises closer to home. And with an astonishing-value cruise sale now on, and savings of up 50%, this is the perfect time to book.
Perhaps a voyage to the northernmost towns of Europe to explore the string of remote coastal towns that dot Norway’s coastline. Head off in search of the Aurora Borealis as it dances above the snowy peaks and the icy waters of the fjords. Meanwhile, on board, learn about the history of Norway at the informative lectures and tuck into first-class cuisine.

Alternatively, sun seekers might opt to sail south through the Atlantic in search of warmer climes. Cross the Bay of Biscay and skirt the western coasts of Spain and Portugal, stopping along the way for chances to marvel at Bilbao’s futuristic Guggenheim museum, at the historic pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostela and to ride the vintage trams in hilly Lisbon.

Newmarket Holidays’ cruises take place aboard a quartet of British-operated vessels, each sailing directly from a number of UK ports, such as Tilbury, Bristol and Liverpool. Relatively small in size, these vessels not only offer a more personal cruising experience, but also allow you to navigate harder-to-reach nooks and crannies inaccessible to larger vessels. At each port of call you’ll have the choice to join a selection of included and optional excursions, which might include guided tours, activities or lunches. You’ll also have a Newmarket Cruise Manager on board to help with all travel arrangements and logistics throughout your trip.

Fly cruise suits us better as you get straight on with cruising rather than two days at sea from U.K. Before you get anywhere.
We have tried several cruises and despite enjoying American based ships most, have decided that "stay and explore" or touring holidays give us a far better insight to the country or region visited. On top of that there are none of the stuffy formal evenings you get, especially on British based ships..
Our view only, cruising is not for all.
However they do exist. One excellent (and award-winning) little company is Passion For Cruises, based in Wales. They have a section of their website and a mailing list featuring No Single Supplement offers.
