Australian Adventures Await

There is so much more to Australia than you may think

Sure, it is blessed with creepie crawlies on a grand scale, fortunately, you are very unlikely to ever see one, but it is also magnificent in all its glory. What awaits you are vast landscapes, stunning scenery, glorious reefs (not just one!), deserts, rock formations not seen anywhere else in the world, some superb places to stay, oh so nice food and an aboriginal history that is both fascinating and humbling.

For many of you, the daunting task is to choose what to do and what to see as you would need a good 8 weeks to see the majority of sights.

Before you decide what to do, take a deep breath, step back and add some different things in to your holiday of a lifetime.

To start with find an opportunity to travel for 3 weeks, that way you can see more, stay in places for longer and allow yourselves to fully immerse into this amazing destination.

Cities are great but the open spaces and outdoors is greater. That said Sydney really is a gem and well worth 2-3 nights. It will often be your first port of call but allow time to get over your jetlag.

What are the real gems? Where should I visit that not everyone may experience? What photographs and stories will my friends wish they had?

Grab a car (ideally pay first) and head out to places less visited. 2-3 nights in The Blue Mountains a 3 hour drive from Sydney is a great start. Dare to be different and head to Jervis Bay, this has to be the most stunning coastal area in Australia and no-one goes. Throw in Philip Island and Mornington Peninsula to complete a great trip to Melbourne.

Three Sisters Lookout, Blue Mountains

Don’t stop, drive the famous Great Ocean Road and go hiking in The Grampian Mountains followed by 2-3 days in the Galapagos of the South, Kangaroo Island. Drink wine and stay in one of the worlds’ most famous wine regions, Barossa Valley, before you get to Adelaide.

Kangaroos in the Hunter Valley

The red centre is a must see. Uluru is a sight to behold but don’t miss Kata Juta and Kings Canyon. Be ‘different’ and drive the Mereenie Loop, a part dirt track road and a very cool thing to have experienced.

The Great Barrier reef is a must do experience but there is Ningaloo Reef on the west coast, one of the few places you can swim with Whale Sharks.

The sun sets along the Great Ocean Road

The East Coast has a plethora of wonderful islands to see, Fraser Island being unique, Bedarra and Lizard islands being divine. Stay in Port Douglas not Cairns, and enjoy a stay at Rose Gumms Wilderness Retreat or take a guided tour to the very top of the Cape York Peninsula.

Kakadu, Nitmiluk and Litchfield National Park await as does a wonderful Aboriginal Tour of Arnhemland.

The First Ghan Train to Darwin departs Alice Springs

Oh and don’t forget the two greatest train rides in the world, the Ghan and Indian Pacific. A rail journey really enables you to access parts of Australia that you would otherwise miss out on and will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your holiday.
