Why you should put a trip to Jersey on your wish list!

Whenever I mention I run a tour operator to Jersey, most people’s reaction is either “Never heard of it” or “I have never been”

I then in 10 seconds try and explain why myself and my family love the island so much. “No passports” “beautiful beaches” and that is just the start of it. In honesty, I need an hour to list everything amazing about this little pocket rocket, it packs so much into its 9 miles by 5 miles.

For those who love to walk, there are some amazing coastal walks, through fields and green lands and beyond.  There are both easy routes if you just want to sample the delights of the island and harder routes for those who are more adventurous.

The island has so much history, including two imposing castles from 13th and 15th Century. The islands memories of the Occupation by German troops from 1940 to 1945 are brilliantly kept in the Jersey War Tunnels, the war museum and other sites around the island. It does astound me how they went about their business in such hard times.

For the sporty types, you can cycle around the island, play golf on championship courses or enjoy a day at the horse racing. For the more intrepid, maybe some rock climbing, abseiling and water sports.

For animal lovers, as well as seeing many of the world-famous Jersey cows, the Durrells Conservation Zoo is an amazing place to see some incredible animals and creatures and learn about the tremendous work they are doing around the world to ensure the safety of endangered species.

There is even more you can cram into a visit to the island. St Helier, the main town, has your traditional shops but also has a stunning array of food and drink outlets. With fresh seafood caught daily in the waters around the island, you will be guaranteed an amazing meal

You can even see the resident dolphins and seals by taking a seafari to the small offshore islands of Les Ecrehous and Les Minquiers with white sands and clear blue sea.

I could go on and on, but we are sure you will be able to find some little gems yourselves.
