Extending your summer just that little bit longer with autumn getaways from Shearings
When you’re in the middle of a heat wave such as the one over the last week or so, it makes you wish summer would never end.
While we can’t make the sun stay forever, we do have some great ideas for extending your summer just that little bit longer on autumn getaways with Shearings.
Whether you want to catch the last of the English sunshine at the seaside or visit the Italian Lakes away from the scorching temperatures of high summer we have the holiday for you, take a look at our best suggestions below.
Explore the sunny south coast and one of the UK’s sunniest towns
Eastbourne regularly tops lists of the UK’s sunniest places, with almost five hours of sunshine per day in October. Our Eastbourne, Worthing & Arundel holiday leaves throughout October, staying in Eastbourne and includes an excursion exploring the towns of Worthing and Arundel. You will have plenty of time to take in the rays as you explore the town’s beachfront or venture into the South Downs. Prices start from £134pp for a four day half board break.
Soak up the rays on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline
Pembrokeshire is Wales’ sunniest area, enjoying similar amounts of blue skies as England’s south coast. The region averages temperatures in the mid-teens throughout October, when you can join us on our Tenby & Pembrokeshire itinerary. The holiday takes in the majesty of the sun soaked Pembrokeshire coast and the amazing history of Wales’ smallest city, St David’s. You’ll stay right on the beach at The Imperial, in the quaint town of Tenby, with its magnificent working harbour and miles of coastal walks. Prices start from £234 for a five day half board break.
Avoid the crowds and too much heat in the Italian Lakes
The Italian Lakes are a great destination at any time of year. In October, the summer’s crowds have gone and temperatures have cooled from searing to warm, perfect for sunbathing, making this an ideal time to visit Lake Como. Shearings have a range of holidays to the lake, staying in a variety of accommodation, from classic period hotels to modern lakeside resorts, with all inclusive meal plans available. All holidays include excursions to explore the beautiful countryside and towns surrounding the lake and return travel to the lake. Holidays leave throughout October, with prices starting from £299pp for an eight day all inclusive stay.
Toast the late September sun as you cruise the mighty Rhine
September is one of the driest months of the year along the Rhine and with mild temperatures and regular sunshine; it’s the perfect time to explore the towns and countryside along its banks. Our Rhine Inclusive Cruise takes in beautiful Koblenz, Rudeshiem and Cologne as well as the magnificent Rhine Gorge. On the tour you will enjoy inclusive drinks after dinner every night as well as full board meals. Tours depart from late September and throughout October, with seven days starting from £559pp.
