Step back in time: to 19691969 almost passed me by! I had four young children and I was expecting a fifth baby. My mother, who lived in Switzerland, was worrying about me and thought that I needed a break. So leaving the children with my husband I travelled to Switzerland for a rest! Everyone was excited about the moon landing, and on the evening that it was televised, we sat out on the balcony looking at the moon. Using our imagination we thought that we could see something there! Idid enjoy the rest but missed the children and at the end of the week was happy to go home again. My beautiful baby girl was born in November and was much loved by her brother and sisters. That was my 1969!ViewDate:

Is sleeping in separate beds the beginning of the end?We started sleeping separately several years ago. I had a bad cough and after a few tuts suggesred that we would both sleep better separately, I was keeping him awake and being worried about coughing and trying not too didnt help me to sleep! I also like to read when I cant sleep and putting the light on woul wake him up. We are both happier now and separate rooms doesnt rule out the odd cuddle!ViewDate:

Peter’s Gardening tips for August 2016Hi Peter, your tips are always most helpful! I have a hydrangea, grown from a cutting, taken while on holiday in Brittany, many years ago. I dont want to lose it, but this year it has grown huge, full of huge pink heads, and is taking over the garden. What do I do?ViewDate:

Who would you choose to replace David Cameron as Prime Minister?I am glad that we are leaving thEu. There isnt any candidate who stands out. Theresa May could be a candidate, Boris is very popular and his appearance belies the fact that he is a very intelligent man. Unfortunately this referendum has opened a huge rift within my family and a lot ofname calling and unpleasantness from the remain side.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Spring 2016I enjoyed 'The Quality of Silence. Quite absorbing, the only thing I found rather contrived, was when Yasmin and Ruby escape from the lorry as it sinks through the ice. They run away quickly, only to find who they had travelled all across Alaska looking for, right there!ViewDate:

Silversurfers Book Club Spring 2016I enjoyed 'The bones of you' and found it an interesting read. I have just read 'The Potters House' by Rosie Thomas. Its a good read, beautifully written, but I found the ending a complete mystery! I wonder if any other reader could make sense of it and explain it to me!ViewDate:

The best books rhat I read recently were The seven sisters by Lucinda Riley, and The lake house, by Kate Morton. Both books were hugely enjoyable and I can thoroughly enjoyable.,!ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading? If you enjoy Dan Brown, you would also enjoy Scott Mariani. His books are so exciting, if a bit gruesome at times. The hero is called Ben Hope, and there are many books about him. I can thoroughly recommend them!ViewDate:

Do you have potatoes with every meal?We have potatoes fairly often but we also have rice or noodles or pasta. When my children were small and we were very hard up, we had a sack of potatoes delivered from the local farm regularly. They were really cheap and often were the basis of a very cheap meal. The children all loved cheese and potato pie with baked beans!ViewDate:

Are you happy to pay for your shopping bags?I cannot understand all the fuss about plastic bagd. We should do as they do in France. On holiday there, we did a food shop. We had to buy their shopping bags to use. Then we made sure we always had the bags with us, and I still use them after at least five years use. Its not that difficult!ViewDate:

Are you in agreement with the ban of smoking in cars with children?I agree with the idea, but its impossible to implement it. The Police are not really interested. Already with the ban on mobile phones, it is still very easy to see people blatantly using them. Only a very few people are caught.. These things may be against the law, but who is going to take any notice! Sometimes the law is an ass!ViewDate:

Would you like to see the railways re-nationalised?Its an impossible dream! The cost would be enormous as they would have to be bought back and foreign companies and shareholders would have to be compensated. However th other countries have nationalised railways that are highly efficient. Its a pleasure to travel in Switzerland!ViewDate:

Should there be a legal age limit for leaving a child home alone?I agree with the NSPCC, young children should never be left alone even for a few minutes,in fact you cant take your eyes off them! At an older age it becomes more difficult. Some children of twelve or thirteen can be very grown up and sensible, while others remain very childish and irresponsible. To set an age where children are safe to be left is opening a can of worms!ViewDate:

Have you drawn up a Will yet?I cant believe that people dont think about making a will. We made one when we were going on holiday, leaving our children (all teenagers) at home for the first time. The thought of them having to cope with no arrangements in place was too worrying. I feel that a lot of people dont make a will because they dont want to think that they might die, but it happens to everyone eventually, accidents do happen and its silly to bury your head in the sand!ViewDate:

I didnt like "Elisabeth is missing" or "The Miniaturist"at all and was so disappointed with them. I will try anything , I really enjoy books by Phillipa Gregory, Barbara Erksine, Scott Mariani and Dan Brown, so I enjoy all sorts of books!ViewDate:

Should National Service be reintroduced in the UK?It would be very easy to suggest National service for all young men, to teach them how to behave and keep them off the streets but there are many problems here. We have a very small army nowadays and who would be available to teach the recruits? Even young men who want to join the army are turned away. Then, who would pay for all this, the taxpayer? Im afraid National service is in the past. And I quote,"the past is another country, they do things differently there" or something similar!ViewDate:

Should pension tax relief be cut to fund reduced university fees?We are told that this plan only applies to "wealthy pensioners" but what is meant by wealthy? One person on radio WM ,recently suggested that being wealthy meant having £2000 in the bank! That wouldnt last very long!ViewDate:
