I was not allowed to go carol singing, why I do not know! My favourite carol is In the bleak mid Winter. Thinking back it is probably because I was a very chesty child and not allowed out at night.

Little Drummer Boy reminds me that everything is not about giving 'things', but to give of the self from the heart and with love.

I've chosen O come all ye faithful but I prefer the Latin version Adeste Fidelis

I always loved "It Came Upon The Midnight Clear", but of the carols listed it has to be "In The Bleak Midwinter" to the Holst tune though, not the Darke.

See amid the winter's snow. It's one that isn't sung so much now, even at Rochester Cathedral where I worship.

In the Bleak Mid Winter always brings a tear to my eye and it is my personal favourite. O Come all ye Faithful was my Dad's favourite and he had an awful singing voice so when I hear that I always think of him. The Once in Royal David's City reminds me of my son aged about 8 singing the first verse solo at his school's nativity as they processed into the church. Carols are like Christmas decorations- because you only hear them for part of the year you do not tire of them.

Too many carols to be able to pick just one, but from the have chosen list, selected "Silent Night' which one hears sung to various tempos. Personally prefer it sung as a quiet lullaby.

I like silent night, for me it's a calming song, relaxing and though I am not overly religious, you can still remember the Christmas plays from your childhood.
