Why have the birds disappeared from my garden?Well, my garden is full of sparrows! They are eating me out of house and home, Also a few starlings, goldfinches and the occasional blue tit. I can hear the blackbird very close by, but haven't seen him in the garden for a whileViewDate:

Do you refer to it as Mothering Sunday or Mother's Day?Mothering Sunday, as my Mum always called it. It got really hard to find a card with it on and that was way back in the early 2000sViewDate:

Should classrooms be mobile phone free zones?agree they should but incredibly difficult to enforce, unless you had the full support of the parents (which you wouldn't get)ViewDate:

Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?Totally agree- just been sorting and cards this weekend and will do the letters to go with them over the next few days. Not a chore, but one of my favourite pre Christmas occupations.ViewDate:

Diary of a self-isolator - Week 6I'm keeping a diary too, Eric - though not for publication!. Even now it's quite alarming to read the first few ,innocent days.... I started on Monday 16th March. I wonder what it will be like to read this time next year -or 5 years down the line? I can't begin to imagine....ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?I'm shopping early now. Went last Friday at 7 30 am-lovely and peaceful. But having read on FB what has been going on in our local Tesco this weekend, it may not be so easy from now on.. Honestly the world has gone mad !-and the press are fuelling fear and panic - incredibly irresponsible.ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months? That's our plan Brenda. My husband had a slight stroke 2 years ago but is now fit and healthy. A lot of his recovery has been down to walking our dog, Boycie, every day-they walk miles together and he is not about to give that up! I think it would be disastrous for his mental health. I can't walk far due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, but I ride an electric trike and intend to carry on doing that too. 4 months would be until about August!ViewDate:

AuschwitzAs time moves ever onwards , we need reminders like these. Soon there will be no-one left who was actually there and this horrific time in the history of mankind will begin to slide away from our conscience-we must ensure that doesn't happenViewDate:

Do you wear your poppy on the left or the right?Always buy and wear our poppies, though only a few days before. Getting harder each year to find where they are being sold! Our daughter bought us a ceramic one from the Tower last Christmas-it's displayed in our hearth as a constant reminder.......ViewDate:
