Love’s Legacy

Love’s Legacy

You left me a story, forever to tell,
With a memory there, ever to dwell,
You left an example, I try to impart,
But you left a hole, right here in my heart.

You left me a meaning, of love that is strong,
As strong as a lion, yet as sweet as a song,
You left me your dreams, in that last sweet refrain,
That will linger forever, but will not come again.

You left an ambition, that I aspire to each day,
Since the long – distant days, when you both went away,
You left me a task, that I try to fulfil,
But I know that I can’t and that I never will.

I look at your pictures, I give them a kiss,
Two people together, who I dearly miss,
Now resting together, in heaven above,
Who left me a story, of a perfect true love!

Good – night, God Bless. xx

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
