My first choice would be Edward Elgar, master of the Kings Music.

David Gilmour and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd
Freddie Mercury and Queen
Eric Clapton
Cat Stevens
Many, many others.

Its got to be a mix of Bowie, Clapton but others not on the list as well. How about Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple?

Too many to choose from but out of your list it has to be Freddy, although I did vote Jimmy Page as he is a brilliant musician.

The problem with this poll is there are so many British class acts over the last 50-60 years. I would probably vote for two if I had the choice or maybe 3. Top would be Mick Jagger-nobody comes close to him. Sting would be one of them as I loved the Police when I was younger and also I like Adele now I am older and more sophisticated (joke).

I agree! The list is missing so many excellent musicians and so much talent, that it's hard to just choose one. I hover between Elton, Freddy Mercury and Mick Jagger, but then I could just as easily choose Rod Stewart, or Sting, or Adele, or Tommy Steele! The list is really endless.

Can't understand how anyone could miss David Bowie off this list. Amazing singer and performer. I was lucky to see him live twice

Hey, you put up Freddy Mercury as a candidate, yet you seem to have forgotten the mist Iconic of them all, Mr John Lennon. I doubt that a day goes by where I do not whistle one of his songs or hear one on the Radio. I think his best ever was 'Imagine'. That is simply undescribable really as its so poignant, true and sad all at the same time.
How about 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' or 'Penny Lane'. All penned by John. I know he's been dead a long while now, but has Freddy got an Airport named after him? I dont think so.
So I think you missed aout here on this Poll and I feel sorry for John that you seem to have forgotten the best.
