Who will you vote for in the December General Election?

Political parties are gearing up for the first December general election in almost a century, after MPs backed Boris Johnson’s fourth attempt to go to the polls.

The Prime Minister has said he is prepared for a “tough” battle, while shadow chancellor John McDonnell said he thought Labour would win a majority.

Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson insisted the campaign was not a two-horse race between Mr Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn, and that she was standing as a candidate to be prime minister.

With Brexit in the mix, this is not a straight forward general election. Have you already made up your mind? Vote in our poll below

How can Corbyn hope to be prime minister when he can't even be bothered to turn up at Saturday evening rememberance celebration at The Royal Albert Hall.

An absolute disgrace he affiliates himself to destructive organisations. He and his henchmen are known facists I will not be voting for this man's union led party.

I fear for Britain if Jeremy wins as I feel he is quite dangerous. Not sure he even likes Britain or the people.
I am aware that Boris has and will make mistakes but one thing that comes over to me is that he is proud of being British and won't let other countries put us down. He stands up for us and at last I am getting proud of being British again.
I also think he is the only one that can get us out of this mess.
Scottish lady only wants to do a deal with Jeremy so they can then have another referendum to leave Britain, stitching us up with a real weak dangerous man. Herself herself herself. Selfish to the core.

Although I’ve voted here for a party because that’s the theme of the poll, my vote on the day will be for my local MP - which is all any of us can vote for! I don’t always agree with him, I don’t always like the way he votes in Parliament but then, I don’t know a single other person that shares all of my views.

Most of us have no influence over what happens at no. 10 other than lobbying our local MP, so, I think the best thing is to concentrate on local issues rather than the shambles at the top!

All that said, regardless of which Party wins, this country can’t move forward until we have a Government with the power to make decisions and an Opposition capable of holding the Government to account. If that scenario transpires I’ll be satisfied.

I don’t believe that the Conservatives intend selling out the NHS to the USA or anybody else for one minute. They may carry on as it is at the moment with some services available at private clinics to keep waiting times down but don’t forget it was Labour who started that system and Labour who sold the old hospitals and only leased new ones so we will be paying for those buildings forever more. Just so long as the NHS is free at the point of service we don’t need to worry. I don’t agree with any one party at the moment and I don’t suppose many people do so choosing is hard enough without all the scare tactics being used by many party’s. It would be great to have an election fought on policy’s only with Boone allowed to call another party - we may.then get some truth and sensible arguments

The biggest worry about this election is that the dangerous idiot, puppet, Corbyn, and his communist henchmen might just sneak in through the back door!!

They would do more damage to the country than either a Brexit or Remain decision. He will be promising the earth again in the campaign, bribing the kids and students and everyone else with undeliverable, uncosted schemes that would cost the country an absolute fortune and send us back to the dark ages.

Political parties have manifestos. You should be voting for a party not an individual unless an Independent. Even if your candidate has different views than the party line they will be voting with the party.
So as someoen said, if there isnt a bus going to your exact destination you dont go home you get one that goes as near as you can. I want the NHS saving and still being here. It was in the top 5 health services until this current govt cut and undersfunded and sold it off.

Forget Brexit the biggest challenge we have is the environment and climate change. For that reason alone we should be voting Green Party or in 100 years there won't be a planet like we have today and Brexit will just be a paragraph in the pages of history.

The problem is most people do not share your view and therefore like it or not it will be Labour or the Tories who will get in...YAWN and we will be off again on the same old boring policies that get us exactly nowhere.

No, Wilf, the challenge is not the environment. The challenge facing all reasoning folk is two fold: desecrating the environment through corporate greed and, not least, humanity's disgusting habits. Otherwise, the environment is fine.

I've said a few times on SS I'm quite familiar with the former Soviet States of Czech and Poland. I was there in the very early nineties. What struck me most was the cleanliness of both the people and their land, quite unlike UK even in those days. No chewing gum on the streets and no supermarkets anywhere therefore very little corporate waste. Food was mostly wrapped in paper which was composted for taties.

Coming back to Britain after a month in Czech was a severe culture shock. The waste we strew around everywhere wasn't credible. I was ashamed of my own people.

We choose to disagree on the origins of climate change, Wilf. That's fine by me. But surely you can't disagree much of climate change, for whatever reason, is driven by the disgusting habits of humanity. Too much waste irresponsibly disposed of in a reckless manner, too much packaging discarded .... we need to think again and bring our corporates, and ourselves, into line here.

What has this to do with the election? A lot! No political party is going to tackle the corporates or our habits. It's a political no no and because of that we drown in corporate waste. Is there no politician with enough backbone to standup and say, 'enough.'

I think its bigger than corporate waste Lionel. It is about us all. Plastics, heating houses, oil, cars, shipping, air conditioning, making cement, cows with methane, food miles the list goes on and on. How are we going to solve it all? It takes long term planning. It will take legislation and we need to all change our way of life like right now. As you say all the waste...we did send it all to China probably to be used as land fill. They don't want it now so we are wallowing in it. Most countries just seem to burn it or it is dumped in rivers etc-Indonesia. The politicians here will not correct it quickly although Labour have said no more cars with petrol/diesel by 2030 and the Tories have said 2035. I hope we see the day!.

Environment is serious. NHS even more serious. Climate deniers have donated to some tory candidates. Many Mps have investments in private health care or insurance. Enough said

Eu is attempting to tax the corporates. BUt you are correct in many things. waste is a topic and so is packaging. Seems the only thing epople can do is to NOT BUY that which offends. Do not give them your money. Dont use amazon, buy from local stores and markets, use a milkman and such.

As a former member of the Armed Forces there is no way this side of hell freezing over I will vote for Corbyns mob - too much racism, anti-semitism and love of terrorism - and my faith in the two other mainstream parties is SEVERELY damaged after the fiasco of the last 3.5 years. So for want of a better choice and for better or worse I will cast my vote for the Brexit party if there is a candidate in my area. If there is not I will look closely at the "Other" alternatives.

Each to his own view 🙂
Personally I lay the blame squarely at the feet of David Cameron. The referendum was poorly thought out - no minimum criteria set as a passing vote, no option to leave with deal or no deal on the ballot form. And no plans for negotiations if the vote was leave.
Personal view only - I think his arrogance would not let him consider for one moment the country might decide to get out.
But whatever/whoever caused the mess - we are in it and we need a solution. Giving in to the unelected dictators of the EU is not the way to do it. Nor is cancelling the referendum result. Had the negotiating team gone to the EU with no deal as a definite fall back proposition I honestly believe we would have come away with something acceptable to all sides - but Camerons dithering and then Mays begging wiped that possibility out all together. 🙁

I'm not of the Armed Forces Neil, but believe me, you guys, serving or retired, I hold in the highest regard. May I say thank you to you from an otherwise ungrateful country.

Your point about the Labour Party hits the spot with me. I am Jewish by birth and so any threat to Jewish people is a threat to me, although I don't live in community. Racism ... yes, I know about that too. Oh boy, do I ever know about that.

The very thought of Corbyn in Downing Street horrifies me. That old dictum ... first the Jews then ... it's your call, it could be you.

I'll vote Brexit Party. Not only is it good for Britain but it's good for Jewsih people.

Again, Neil, my thanks for serving.

Neil, there is a fact which the Brits choose to ignore. Germany is arming again. It reads to me like a repeat if the 1930's. But then what do I know?

In the '30's so many of our aristocracy and parliamentarians wanted to ally Britain with Germany under Hitler. The possible outcome of that... I'll leave that to you.

It's clear to me the EU is ... I won't write it here but use your head. Why would we engage with them on friendly terms.

If you're in the reserve stand by. I fear it's all coming at us again.
