Paying tax on our state pensionHello, if you are getting the New State Pension, the weekly rate is £203.87/week. This is less than the personal Tax Allowance of £12500-/year. But clearly if you have an additional pension or you include you private /occupational pension, you may become liable for income tax.. All I can say is that the British public continues to elect the Tories and is generally reluctant to consider the radical changes that need to be made to protect the welfare of the many, against that of the few. They continue to Swallow the eternal story of the ageing population forcing the increase in state pension age, etc. and do not (unlike French workers currently) add 2 and 2 together to make the case that the wealth being created has never been as great as currently BUT that dividends paid to shareholders and bonuses / rewards to the very few never been as great while they escape taxation in tax havens and non-Dom status that the government us not tackling. So French workers went to demonstrate at what here in England would be the heart of the City of London, the financial heart! Because they know and understand that they need to overrule the governance and legislation that preserves vested interests still protected by the government which is preventing change. The BBC doesn't really reports or explains this clearly rather showing French demonstrators as rather another bunch of dangerous agitators. But they know and this us why their are leading a fight... For more systemic change..the pension age only one aspect of what they tackling. In other words, stand and be counted...
