Win a 12-night cruise for two with Bolsover Cruise ClubWhat a great competition to enter into with Silversurfers and Bolsover Cruise Club on the P&O liner "Ventura". Having had a day aboard the "Oriana" whist she was berthed alongside in Southampton (as a birthday gift from my wife) I saw what fantastic adventures could be had if one wanted to take what was on offer. How I would love to win this prize of a lifetime; well done Silversurfers for obtaining this brilliant prize.ViewDate:

Are we on a countdown to chaos?Quite a shock to see the percentages for this forum! We have seen enough around where we live to form the opinion that there are quite a lot of people behaving as if the virus has gone for good. They are having BBQ parties, walking with friends, being self-centred and not giving any social distance to others who are outside and the list goes on. Those Herberts who went to Durdle Dor and Kimmeridge and Brighton, Eastbourne etc etc. must be completely stupid to have done so. Some people travelling from 3am to get to a beach where many others were to descend upon it and them. Have they not seen any news items at all? I was diagnosed with a pulminary embolism 7 years ago and I was in a mess (in hospital) so I know first-hand what is possible if the virus is contracted and some. Jeez, these people need putting up against a wall and shooting with fresh slurry - then told why.ViewDate:

Should Dominic Cummings resign?People in the public eye have resigned for less! Why does he believe he is any different to the rest of us? Boris needs a right hand man (or woman) to help with political decisions as Jeffrey Archer did with Mrs Thatcher, and she stayed in office for 10 years through thick and thin. But that right hand person should be an elected MP with a responsibility to the electorate. Full stop.ViewDate:

Should controversial statues around the country be removed?"Contravertial" statues should not really have been installed in the first place in my opinion. But, the historical achievements that are providing people with opportunities today, should be known by the population so that they can form a reasonable opinion on the installation. The various councils should educate their constituents on the work of the object of the installation, then approach those locals and form a democratic yeah or nay dependent on the support for or against. Cecil Rhodes is of course the central figure at Oxford University where the statue installation has been challenged by students for many years. Students who should really know the truth about Mr Rhodes! Yes he was egotistical and borderline xenophobic, but he left a good legacy alongside some of the less palatable actions. He acknowledged that blacks and whites are from different enclaves, but emphasised that we are all in the same human race, with equal footing. His gift to aspiring academics has been well supported by the colleges and those who are given bursaries to further their own education. These students were predominantly from the African Continent, not the Uk. And Cecil Rhodes is only one example!ViewDate:

Is it ever ok to snoop on your partner's device? The Green-eyed monster's tentacles reach far and wide. If you see something that you believe to be one thing, that is actually another, all manner of trouble can ensue. Be disciplined and honest - leave her/his devices to their own devices.ViewDate:

Do you think university tuition fees should be scrapped?Education used to be the favoured path of the rich &powerful, the gentry & the aristocracy, but even from those backgrounds, there is no guarantee of a graduates installation into big business. The fees themselves are laughable when one takes into account the eye watering wages enjoyed by the university staff. With so much still being owed post-graduation, and often fees being written off, it’s either time for the uni’s to become commercial, or use some of them vast fortunes they sit on.ViewDate:

Win A 5-Day Midweek Coach Holiday For TWO PeopleHaven't been on a coach trip since I was a lad. My parents couldn't afford much, but they always managed to get us away from the rain of Rochdale to the rain of places like Morecambe or Mabelthorpe. We would get back home refreshed and no-one was aggressive or stressed, because the coach took the strain away. Wouldn't it be nice to feel like that again.ViewDate:

How would you solve the NHS crisis? The overcrowding of hospitals and the burden on GP's surgeries is that folk these days are too quick to think there is something really wrong, when years past, the masses just got on with it. "Put a bit of hot wet crusty bread on it to draw out the pus" was a favourite of my mother when one of us broke a limb climbing a tree. The collective "we" cannot seemingly get through an ailment without rushing to the local surgery for reassurance, rather than going when we really, truthfully cannot solve the problem ourselves. Yes we could be ill, yes it may be serious, but why oh why are, the surgeries and hospital ED's full to the brim? I grew up in a homestead that had 2 out of us 3 brothers born with defective urinary systems which were detected at birth, but when my parents and I would visit them in turn, 6 years apart, we would hardly see anyone other than the medical staff. In the large hospital serving our community and others just outside the city, the cafeteria's are rammed, the wards are always full, and A & E is constantly busy. I think that the fear of the big C is so prevalent in today's society, the problem will only get worse...we've not all got it; have we? -
