Dad, my shining star

Dad, My Shining Star

I look for you in the darkness of the night.
I know you’re there with the stars that shine so bright.
I listen for you as the wind catches the trees,
Swear I can hear the lilt of your voice on the breeze.

I dream of you as I close my eyes and drift off to sleep,
You’re there with me in our home, on our street.
I miss you Dad wherever you are,
Please know you will forever be my brightest star.

I'm a 56 year old Mum of 2. I enjoy writing poetry about my first hand experiences. My parents both passed away within 5 weeks of each other and with the help of a dear friend John I was able to visit my Dad's family home in Ireland. I have a sausage dog aged 6 who is partly disabled after being paralysed 18 months ago. Thankfully he can now wobbly walk after a long period of rehabilitation. I also enjoy gardening and going to concerts and eating out with friends and family.
