The Rural Rajasthan

The princely state of Rajasthan is a collection of kingdoms that has attracted traders, travellers and explores for centuries.  Home to countless Forts, Palaces, Temples and Monuments the dramatic landscape never fails to provide adventure for all.  Here we have created an itinerary that explores some of the lesser visited region with smaller Forts and Palaces and beautiful rural countryside. 

 

DAY 1: ARRIVE DELHI

On arrival stay at The Imperial Hotel.

DAY 2: DELHI

Explore the myriad sights of Old and New Delhi. The wide boulevards of Lutyens’ New Delhi contrast dramatically with the narrow streets and scattered monuments that dominate Old Delhi.

 

DAY 3: DELHI – SAMODE

Morning drive to Samode and stay 2 nights at the spectacular Samode Palace, just outside Jaipur. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 4: SAMODE – JAIPUR – SAMODE

Morning drive past the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) and continue to Amber. Ascend to this hilltop fort on elephant back. After lunch explore Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. See the City Palace and the Observatory.

DAY 5: SAMODE – NIMAJ

Morning drive to Nimaj and stay 1 night at the luxurious Chhatra Sagar tents, pitched on a dam, overlooking a huge lake teeming with birds.

DAY 6: NIMAJ – ROHET

Morning free to walk undisturbed around the lake or up the hill for fine views. Alternatively, venture out for bird watching and into the surrounding farming village by jeep, with a member of the owning family. Afternoon drive to Rohet and stay 2 nights at the charming Rohet Garh Hotel.

DAY 7: ROHET – JODHPUR – ROHET

Morning excursion to nearby Jodhpur visiting the imposing Meherangarh Fort. Afternoon at leisure.

 

DAY 8: ROHET – RANAKPUR – NARLAI

Morning drive to Ranakpur to see some of India’s finest Jain Temples. After lunch at the charming Maharana Bagh Orchard, continue by road to Narlai and stay 1 night at Rawla Narlai Hotel.

DAY 9: NARLAI – KUMBHALGARH – DEOGARH

Morning drive to the mighty fort at Kumbhalgarh which broods over the surrounding landscape and offers spectacular views. Continue to road to Deogarh staying 2 nights at Deogarh Mahal.

DAY 10: DEOGARH

Day free to take a train ride through a pretty ‘ghat’ section, a jeep safari into the surrounding area, to go riding, to explore the village or to rest by the swimming pool.

 

DAY 11: DEOGARH – NATHDWARA – DELWARA

Morning drive to Delwara, via the interesting temples at Nathdwara. Stay 2 nights at the magnificent Devi Garh Fort Palace.

DAY 12: DELWARA – UDAIPUR – DELWARA

Explore the enchanting lakeside town of Udaipur with its grand palaces and monuments.

 

DAY 13: DELWARA

Full day at leisure to enjoy Devi Garh Fort Palace and surrounding area.

 

DAY 14: DELWARA – UDAIPUR – MUMBAI

Morning free. Afternoon drive to Udaipur and fly to Mumbai.  After dinner at Taj Lands End hotel, depart for the airport.

 

DAY 15: DEPART MUMBAI

Early morning departure for onward destination.

 

Costs from – £3195 per person.  The price is based on double occupancy, and is subject to change based on hotels and dates of travel. Price includes international flights on British Airways travelling in World Traveller (economy), accommodation in a double/ twin room, breakfast, sightseeing, transfers, domestic flights and train, private guides and chauffeur driven car.
