Hand selected products to make everyday living with arthritis easier

Loved by Arthr is a collection of carefully curated products from innovative entrepreneurs and inventors that meet Arthr’s high standards of functionality and design.

The products are hand picked to meet a certain set of criteria, all specifically designed to support and resolve everyday challenges that people with arthritis face.

Arthr is a social venture that designs, develops and champions brilliant innovations to help people with arthritis live to the full. They are powered by the charity Versus Arthritis with a single mission to help make everyday lives of people with arthritis easier. All profits are invested back into the fight against arthritis, whether that is new product development and research or back to Versus Arthritis.

It all starts by identifying challenges associated with everyday tasks when living with arthritis and that begins by talking to those that are closest to it. After many hours of workshops with people with arthritis and healthcare professionals (such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists) a list of over fifty quantifiable needs were drawn up. The team at Arthr targeted this list of needs to search for products that can best help people with arthritis.  The list included such things as getting in and out of bed, pulling up socks, getting in and out of the car, cooking and gardening. In the product research phase, new products and innovations were discovered that tackled other areas of living with arthritis that the team had not necessarily focused on that are beneficial. These products are then taken through a rigorous testing process to determine if they truly are making people with arthritis lives better. It is fascinating how many different ways different designers and innovators tackle the different problem areas.

The hands, wrist and grip is a large area of focus for Arthr’s team. For example, a simple but great innovation called the Keywing Key Turner, makes keys easier to grip and turn which helps many people with their front door. The G-Hold Tablet Holder also relieves stress on the hand and wrist whilst using your tablet. Or even when pouring your tea, you don’t want to risk spilling boiling hot liquid everywhere because of the pain in your wrist, and that’s where the Two-handed Teapot will benefit you.

It’s especially those activities that involve repetitive movements that can be very uncomfortable, such as gardening.

Peta Easi-Grip Gardening Tools have ergonomically designed handles that are shaped to allow an action where the hand and wrist is in a more natural position, changing the angle and alleviating stress caused by a conventional grip.

Another area of pain associated with gardening is your knee. All the time spent kneeling down and putting pressure on your delicate knees causes more pain and discomfort. A great solution Arthr found that alleviates pressure on your knees are the Recoil Knee Pads. They have a spring based suspension system that distributes pain away from your knees and makes being on your knees much easier. The Loved By Arthr brands are key partners and help form a valuable and growing ecosystem that are helping Arthr shift a broken market, where brilliantly designed products are now widely available to people with arthritis.
