Make later life better with live-in care

Getting older shouldn’t mean giving up the things that make us who we are – from the little things, like the time we get up in the mornings or what we have for lunch, right through to the big stuff, like where we call home.

Elder offers a range of live-in care services that help older people keep the life they know and love, all while getting the care they need.

With Elder, an experienced carer moves into the home and adapts to your loved one’s routine, and does everything they can to help them make the most of later life.

What does a live-in carer do?

  • Keep the home clean, tidy and safe
  • Help with getting dressed for the day
  • Support with personal hygiene
  • Meal preparation
  • Medication prompting
  • Support with mobility
  • Run small errands such as shopping
  • Provide companionship
  • Help managing your weekly diary
  • Emergency response

Inviting someone new into the home is a big decision, so Elder will always respect your needs and preferences when matching your loved one with one of the 4000+ carers in our network. For example, if they need a carer that can walk their dog, someone who can speak a certain language, or perhaps someone who can cook a particular cuisine – Elder’s Senior Care Advisors will work hard to find a carer with the right skills, and make a match you can all feel good about.

How does live-in care work?

Permanent live-in care

Elder will match you with a carer who will work with your loved one as their primary companion on an on-going basis. However They’re not going to lock you into any long contracts. If your loved one’s care needs change and you need to stop care, you can.

When it’s time for the carer to take a break – usually around every four to six weeks  – Elder will provide a respite carer to take over. Don’t worry, they’ll try to ensure you get the same respite carer as often as possible.

Short-term live-in care

Elder’s short-term care options offer the same quality at-home support, but for as little as three days at a time. In emergency situations it can also be arranged in as little as 24 hours.

This type of care can help ensure one-to-one support is in place following a hospital stay, or provide cover if you or a primary caregiver needs a break, or falls ill.

When you choose care through Elder, you’ll get:

  • The support of a fully-vetted independent carer with relevant skills in things like dementia care and mobility.
  • Personalised care – only ever paying for the services you need without hidden charges, or extra costs on bank holidays
  • Your own dedicated Family Support Specialist to provide on-going help and guidance
  • Access to your own MyElder online account where you can manage care, review carer information, and find useful resources
