What was your favourite band from the 60s?

The so-called ‘British Invasion’ of the 1960s marked a golden age in music.

Guitars were electric and rock and roll was one of the most popular styles of music on the radio.

Many of the acts that rose to fame in the 1960s still endure today – The Beatles are as popular as ever, and The Rolling Stones show no sign of slowing down – the band still records and performs music regularly.

Today we’re asking – what was your favourite band from the 1960s? Vote with our poll and share any memories in the comments below!

When referring to this era, the media always talk about the white bands. Most of youth culture where I came from (Southampton) were into Bluebeat, Ska and Soul.

Small Faces, Simon & Garfunkle, Beach Boys. It was the music rather than the group I liked so was a bit of a 'music tart'

As Buddy died in 1959 I don't think he counts as best band of the 60s .

Simon and Garfunkel.

Top lines with a melody, excellent harmonies, not to mention Paul Simon's unparalleled gift of music.

I loved their protest songs, was a protester myself way back when, and Artie Garfunkel's rendering of Simon's love songs - that just real music.

Loved the Yardbirds just fantastic and all of them here to some degree. the Beatles and Stones were more than bands they changed society for good. Not many artists can say that!

Stones were fantastic. We saw them at Twickenham about 20 years ago. Just amazing!
