What is the most frequent reason you check your Smartphone?

Smartphones have overtaken laptops as the most popular device for getting online, Ofcom research has revealed, with record ownership and use transforming the way we communicate.

  • Smartphones overtake laptops as UK internet users’ number one device
  • We’re spending two hours online on our smartphones every day; twice as long as laptops and PCs
  • Superfast 4G is helping change the way we shop, bank, watch TV and communicate

Two thirds of people now own a smartphone, using it for nearly two hours every day to browse the internet, access social media, bank and shop online.

Don't have a smartphone, or any type of mobile phone. 🙂

Sadly, the Internet has taken over our lives. We've lost the art of conversation and we've forgotten how important grammar is "wiv all ths txtn we dnt bther wiv comas an tht eva"

There can't be many of us left who write emails and texts the way we were taught to write letters. We have loads of free minutes with our phones yet many youngsters shun a brief or sometimes not so brief conversation for a stream of disjointed texts that may take an hour to conclude.

With my Granddaughter working in the Alps, WhatsApp has been a marvellous way of keeping in touch.
