Win a Holiday for Two to Canada for Your Nominated NHS Worker! My daughter, Stacey is a midwife and is very precious. I just cannot imagine how she is coping with the addition of this further concern when looking after new babies, Mums and usually Dads too. She arrives home to her family exhausted after her night shifts usually and with the addition of protecting everyone from the virus she must feel dreadful. But she gets on with it! Her husband and children then need her care.ViewDate:

Are you due a holiday refund?Might miss my holiday in Scotland if we are still in lock down by the end of July. We booked two different flats for a week n each on the West Coast. I never buy insurance for holidays in the UK and I tend to think that insurance may not cover a pandemic in any case. I suppose the landlords of the flats may refund or part refund or just moving the booking into later this year or to next year would be okay. Missing a holiday without refund is not so terrible considering that people are dying of the virus.ViewDate:

Should women have time off work for menopausal symptoms?HRT is not for everyone but worth trying and there are different ones. There are lots of natural remedies too but I sill think these need a practitioner's advice. When the symptoms are really bad I believe sick leave is needed but I just felt that I would fight it and all the symptoms. I was really and truly well advised by the Amarant trust and luckily I had an excellent GP. I could not have fully decided for myself without getting as much information as possible first.ViewDate:

Should women have time off work for menopausal symptoms? No, phone the Amarant Trust if it's still available and get some advice. HRT does work; however much you don't want to use it but why suffer. I knew there were risks but the menopausal symptoms were so bad that I felt the benefits of the patch out weighed any risks and I was monitored. I had a very early menopause as the symptoms arrived 4-5 days after lots of surgery that brought it on and it was awful. There are so many symptoms that I never known were anything to do with the menopause. Get as much info and advice as possible before your menopause but don't let it spoil your work or your life. Stay happy.ViewDate:

Should seagulls be culled?Difficult. Seaside towns do cull seagulls. I am told that some of the nuisance has been caused by people feeding seagulls. There were signs around Bridlington harbour advising not to feed the gulls when I visited. People were seen, even so, feeding the gulls. The gulls were attacking children in their prams when the children were eating. My car has been encrusted with seagull droppings at Whitby in the past. Seagulls kept me awake last week at Filey. I still can't say cull the gulls but I think it could be good to reduce their numbers in another way.ViewDate:

Do you think planning and pre paying for your funeral in advance is a good idea?I certainly think it is a better idea than the monthly plans advertised on TV. My mum planned and pre paid for her funeral when she knew that she had a terminal illness. I think if I planned mine, I might want to keep changing my mind about the arrangements.ViewDate:

Is the 'Naughty' label not nice?Naughty is a label. Discipline has connotations too. Try talking with the child. I've worked with children of all age groups and in lots of different settings, I have my own children and grandchildren so I do have lots of experience of working with children. Try listening to them.ViewDate:

Should graduates still be repaying their student loans into their 60s?I didn't study at university until I was in my late 30s, I was divorced and had two children to finance. The course was needed for my proposed career. Loans started and grants were being phased out. I thought it was worth repaying a loan when I had finished the course. However the tuition had been free. My daughter went to university more recently in her mid 30s, as it too was needed for her proposed career. She had more to pay back than I had but is just glad to have a good salary now. Paying for a university education does not just affect school leavers. My advice is pay as much as possible of your loan as soon as you get an income, which in all likelihood will be a lot better than if you hadn't got a degree or equivalent.ViewDate:

Do you agree with the TV licence changes for over-75s?I am part Yes and part No. I have heard so many older people saying 'Free TV licence is nice but I can afford one'. It just doesn't seem appropriate for the BBC to pay for free licences for anyone including over 75s. I'd believed that paying for such as TV licences was factored into the amount of applicable benefits to anyone who relies on income related benefits, such as Pension Credits, from the government. I don't have Sky or similar but I know quite a few pensioners including over 75s who do have them. I have a feeling that the Government woke up one day and said to themselves, ''why did we start this free TV licence business in the first place''ViewDate:

Would you buy your supermarket produce loose, out of packaging?Even nowadays, on the market, I can pass a couple of bags over, one for the veg and one for the fruit that I am buying. No need for plastic or paper bags. As a child, the shoppers at the fruit and veg stall always had a bag or old brown paper carrier for their potatoes which were still dirty with varying amounts of soil still on them. Shoppers were happy to put their purchases straight into their shopping bags where possible. Egg boxes were reused on numerous occasions. Stall holders used to ask, 'do you need a bag'. There are still so many people out in the shops and markets with plastic carriers. Where have all the shopping bags gone. Shoppers seem more likely to have bags with them rather than buy carriers when I am in the supermarket but there is so many pre-packaged goods in the trolleys that the message doesn't seem to be hitting home yet.ViewDate:

Planning your holiday packing listI am asking a question rather than just making a comment. The mention of the EHIC card prompted me. I am going with a friend to Toulouse from 4th to 8th April 2019; rugby league match and a short break. I have not bought any insurance yet as I am unsure what t do. I thought I ought to wait until we had some sort of answer about the Brexit situation but that just does not seem to be forthcoming. The cost of the flight and hotel being lost is not really too much of an issue, it's the what if I am ill, hospital, healthcare, travelling home. I have IBD so it's a worry what to do. Have you any suggestions. Wendy.ViewDate:

Is a 'stiff-upper-lip' mentality partially to blame for today's mental health problems?NB.Prince William is only 36! There are lots of routine physical health checks but what about emotional/mental health checks. I think it is still harder for men to admit to feeling emotionally upset than it is for women to do so. Telling people, including children, to not be soft is not helpful. People just need someone to listen sometimes.ViewDate:

Has the public lost interest in Christmas adverts?I don't actually ignore adverts but I don't take much notice. They're handy when I want to go into the kitchen when I don't want to miss a programme that I am watching. Christmas adverts don't affect what I am going to buy or where I am going to buy anything; I stick with my all year round shops and the odd Christmas market and a trip into such as York. In truth, I watch BBC for 90% of the time generally in any case and most programmes are watched on the fire stick with limited adverts.. Trust this helps, Dipsy.ViewDate:

Is there an upper age limit for wearing animal print?Wear what you like and in which you feel comfortable. Clothing is personal. If others like your choice...……..good, if they don't then it doesn't matter so long as it is your choice of outfit. -
