kentrix39's bio
World traveller primarily from aged eight through twenty odd years as a Royal Marine till I retired from landscaping at seventy two years old enjoyed every minute of m y working life.
Now have a lovely Lady Friend who spends weekends and holidays with me and the odd lunch or dinner during the week. Excellent relationship.
I am now seventy eight years old and having beat prostate cancer am doing fine health wise.
We have stopped going abroad too much hassle at airports in UK plus kids have now taken over on aircraft making journeys a nightmare even in business our preferred method of travel. We confine ourselves now to UK Breaks of which there is an abundance.
I eat out a lot especially at weekends with my lady and have been a member of Tripadvisor since 2015. -

Do you feel that freedom of speech is becoming restricted in the UK?Free speech vanished from the UK the day that Hyde Park Corner was declared a no no by the powers that held sway in those days many years ago. We are not a tolerant society, we are so because of the threat of imprisonment or being fined. We have a very unhappy two last generations frightened to say what they think led by people on television or radio or some other media outlet. who immediately they say anything truthful are immediately pilloried by a load of "snowflakes" and they apologise. We have too much of this lets have say what you mean and if anyone does not like it let them retreat to their "Safe Place" but shut up. Not everyone is a disgusting wimpy person most people would like to say what they think but are afraid of prison time. People should not have to apologise for what they say no matter what it is a fundamental right to have free speech as in America a First Amendment to the constitution. Time we had a constitution. Our history is our history if people do not like our history sorry they just have to lump it, I could not care less about any other non English, Scottish or Welsh persons history that is for them to worry about and as slavery still exists in many other countries I advise them to go there and sort it out. Of course they will not as other countries are not as stupid as Britain where we alloe gangs to desecrate our Monuments and town centresViewDate:

Will you be visiting your local pub this weekend?I do not come out of lock down till 1st August, being a very vulnerable person. I do not have a local we go to to variety of pubs/restaurants in Surrey for Saturday lunch and Sunday lunch with friends. Our next booking is Saturday 1st August the day that I can officially mix at a distance.ViewDate:

Do you use chemical weed killer? As having run probably the largest grounds maintainance, gardening and landscaping firm in the South of England for many years I can categorically say that Roundup is extremely safe it is the only way to kill deep rooted weeds. Of course there is always the amateur who. gets it their skin and thinks they can just wipe.it off. This sort of thing happens in all walks of life.ViewDate:

Will you be venturing to the shops this week?I am a shielded person and as such of my own violation will not mix with other people until such times as I am certain that no longer are a threat to my life. People are still in and of supermarkets without masks or gloves nor do they keep their distance in this country until people start obeying the rules as laid down we are never going to get rid of this plague. It is absolutely appalling the way that they are behaving even my children and grand children and great grand children will not go to supermarkets any more as the staff behave just as badly as the public not keeping a distance or wearing masks.ViewDate:

Should seagulls be culled?Certainly not. People encouraged them to feed off them, now that the gulls have no fear of them, they want them killed. Just the way you expect people to behave these days but I expected Silver Surfers to be a lot more knowledgeable than your 18 to 50 yr old about the habits of any bird life. I doubt very much that a little dog was lifted from a garden people are always making things out to be of greater moment than is really the case. Eat your food from a paper bag or some other container and they will not bother you, they will eye you up, however they will stay away if you show no fear. Do not drop any food that yo are eating. In March in St Ives there was idiots actually teasing the gulls by showing them the food they were about to consume and then there was an out cry from them when the birds swooped, they deserved to be "dive bombed". Educate the people them the problem will go away. My lady and I always eat our pasty surrounded by the bag it is sold in and we sit on the jetty at St Ives and all we get is eyed up.ViewDate:

Would you buy your supermarket produce loose, out of packaging? My first job at eleven years old was working in a grocery store in Strathpeffer in Scotland. I served in the shop and delivered produce on the shop bike and in a van driven by Mr Wilson's daughter. In the shop all stuff was weighed out in brown paper bags according to the customers requirements, no plastic in those days. I would be willing to accept my goods in bags weighed out for provided a counter was provided where a member of staff worked. Or pre weighed and bagged goods were on shelves labelled and sealed. Certainly not help yourself type stalls except for fruit and veg.ViewDate:

Will you be voting in the European Elections this month? Some thing that I forgot. This whole fiasco was brought about by one person who to go to the High Court must have been financed by wealthy remoaners. People seem to have forgotten that a person by the name of Gina Miller took the British voters to court to bring about this state of affairs, she is to blame not the MPs although they are to blame now.ViewDate:

Will you be voting in the European Elections this month? We should all abstain (the leavers that is) to show that we do not want anything to do with the European Union. We have enough blood suckers over there without keep adding to them. We want our independence back so that we are are our own country. We have so much to right once we get rid of these people that have ruined our lives for so long now. It is sad that people think that when they see a board at the side of the road saying this was built by money from the EU that they actually think it is EU money. Ii is our own money being retrieved for our use. Brain washing at it's best.ViewDate:

Is it time to get rid of 1p and 2p coins? We already have rampant inflation despite what the official figures say. Getting rid of any lower denomination currency will only add to a rounding UP of prices. Although I admit that £19.99 is in reality £20, at least you get the penny back. We are ready known as the most ripped off nation in the "Western World" I am led to believe in which case all should be done to keep prices of ALL commodities down no matter what they are.ViewDate:

Is a bad deal better than remaining in the European Union? This mess all came about about because someone (who was obviously financed very much to a very large extent by forces opposed to leaving Europe) took our government to the High court and won an injunction making it mandatory that the House of Prats had a say in the leaving process. If it had not beden for the intervention of this person we would have been sorted out long ago. The will of the people in a democracy is paramount and if any MP cannot see that they should immediately resign. We have always been a nation of adventurers and world traders for hundreds of years of course those under fifty do not know that as they have never experienced a free country and they are afraid of leaving home. Just as the greedy parasites that return home to leech off their parents they seem to think the EU is good to them we only get back some of the money that we pay them, we are lucky that they do not lose all of it over the course of the audit period there are billions that they cannot account for. This has to be done with or without a deal May has a mandate from the people, let her get on with it ASAP. We do not want to have to elect (I will not) another bunch of blood sucking MEPs when we are just about to get rid of one lot for ever.ViewDate:

Will you be stocking up on provisions for post-Brexit?I cannot believe that a website for sane mature people has asked such a stupid question. Panic is for "kids" under forty we have lived without the EU for hundreds of years. Just think of all the money we will save; No MEPs to support at a huge cost, not for nothing is the EU parliament known as the greatest gravy train in the world. No unelected persons passing laws on our country. No tariffs on trade, joining the WTO. Control of our money, the EU loses billions of pounds every year and no auditors will sign off the books, that is approximately forty years worth of fraud. No more financing all the European countries at the expense of our own institutions, NHS, schools etc. The list is endless why does everyone believe the negative aspects that are put forward by the BBC and certain public figures and the remoaners.ViewDate:

That is as long as it is treatable and you are able to get to the treatment centre. I was diagnosed six years ago now and I do not think about it, enjoy life to the full. Does the future look brighter?Of course it does. Unfortunately the leaving routine does not go far enoug. I realise that vast majority of British nationals have never experienced a free country so like losing parents at a young age they have concerns. However if they try to forget about what they are at the moment and look ahead to what can be achieved with a positive attitude then all will be well. Ignore the fear mongers entirely and think for yourself of the benefits, too numerous to go into at this time on a Sunday, lunch beckons.ViewDate:

Should women join the SAS?We have already diminished the our Armed Forces with all the Health and Safety regulations why go further down the slippery slope to a stage even lower than mediocrity. I was a Royal Marine for over twenty years and women just do not fit in with a fighting unit, they have the wrong temperament for a start. As they do at the wheel of a car, they will hesitate, they are not able to pass the physical for the Royal Marines, Paras, SAS or any other front line fighting unit. Add to that the extra cost of separate accommodation, ablution facilities, especially on ships and the extra cost is enormous certainly not worth the it to the tax payer. What is called "bullying" today was in my day instilling discipline in recruits who had to obey orders without question to stay alive at times. Women can not stand up to that.ViewDate:

We urgently need control of our own country and borders plus our finances. Countries are lining up to deal with us as always happened before we got entangled with this, I am led to believe by the media, a very corrupt organisation. Is 16 too young to join the Army?Certainly not it is just what kids these days need. They learn how to take care of themselves, respect for others, the parameters that govern life, confidence to face all odds with patience in fact how to live a life to the full. They are never deployed to theatres of operation till their eighteenth year by which time they are a great asset to any unit be it Army or Royal Marines. They will, due to early training and induction into service life probably earn promotion quicker on merit not as in civilian life by quota. This gives the service a far better structured way of live and a family feel.ViewDate:

Should men and women have a different pension age?Women have decided they wish to be on equal footing with men irrespective of the fact that they may have stay home for a while to raise children. That is a choice they make it is not something that has to be borne by other tax payers all the time. People seem to get the idea that it is the government that pays them, when in fact it is the tax payer please think on. The younger generation of women have never had it so good paid to have a year at home "bonding" with a child not my mother or my (now deceased wife) they soldiered on. I often wonder to myself how my mother ever managed with four kids at one time having two jobs whilst we were young and at school. Women were informed many years ago that the age for them to acquire a pension was to rise so they should have known about it. -
