Are you happy to trust your nose?If milk is kept at the proper temperature in a fridge it always lasts much longer than the stated date.ViewDate:

Do you buy supermarket own-label brand or Heinz baked beans?I buy Heinz if they are for 'beans on toast' but cheaper ones if using them as part of another dish e.g sausage casserole.ViewDate:

Is it OK to take leftover restaurant food in a doggy bag?It may also help if they serve smaller portions. You can get a child's portion so why not an adults (3/4) portion on request. I'd be happy to pay the same price but not have food thrown away because the portion was too large.ViewDate:

Should all Christmas parties be off this year?I think a lot depends on the size of the party and the venue. I certainly wouldn't want to be with a large number of people in a venue where there were multiple parties going on. I'm not visiting any pubs over Christmas (I don't anyway) but I will be having a meal at a friend's house, with about five other people who are all known to me, and welcoming certain friends to my own house. Christmas day will be with family at my daughter's house and everyone will be expected to take a lateral flow test first.ViewDate:

Should shops continue to take cash?Whilst I am happy to continue paying for my main weekly shop by card (as I always have done) I still use cash for top up and smaller purchases. If a shop won't accept cash, without a good reason, then I won't shop there. This has only happened to me once.ViewDate:

Are you taking a late summer overseas holiday or have you postponed your plans? At the moment all holidays and trips away are on hold for me. I'll reassess the situation as, and when, reliable information is forthcoming from the government. In the meantime I'll stay fairly local in my own lovely area.ViewDate:

Are you deterred from going on a cruise or happy to keep sailing?I have been on a few cruises in the past but always on the smaller ships - I find the massive ones abhorrent. However, at the moment I.m afraid that I wouldn't even consider a small ship. I shall stick to 'staycations' for the time being.ViewDate:

Will you be visiting your local pub this weekend?I don't tend to go to pubs these days anyway. I'd rather go to a good restaurant and have a decent wine with my meal.ViewDate:

Will you be venturing to the shops this week?Apart from my weekly food shopping I really don't need anything else so I will bide my time. I'm just waiting for my favourite restaurant to open -then I will feel that I am back in the land of the living!!ViewDate:

Do you buy a daily newspaper?I don't generally have time to read one during the week and just catch the main stories online or via the BBC but I do always get the Guardian on a Saturday as there is so much good content that it lasts me the weekend.ViewDate:

Should plant nurseries and growers be allowed to sell their plants?A really difficult this one. It's planting time and we all have so much more time on our hands yet we can't access the plants to put in our gardens. If the nurseries are having to throw out their plants could they not give/sell them cheaply them to the supermarkets who would then give (or sell at a very low price) - say 5 - trays to each customer who had a loyalty card for that store? The rest could be given to care/nursing homes etc to be planted there.ViewDate:

Are you considering cutting your own hair?I'll probably let the length grow but I'll have to do my fringe at some stage and will follow advice on how to do it given in a Guardian article. Luckily I had it cut just before the 'lockdown' so I may get away with it for a couple more weeks. Hardly anyone sees it at the moment anyway!!ViewDate:

Are you concerned about Mothering Sunday visits? My son is unable to get home. I really don't want a meal with my daughter and her family so I will have a long(ish) walk in our local country park with them and their dogs instead. Fresh air and company. The food can wait until this is all over.ViewDate:

Is the UK Government doing enough to lessen the spread of Covid-19?The problem is that we just don't know. All governments can do is listen to the scientific and medical advice and go from there. All we can do is listen to that advice - use our own common sense and not take undue risks. I have no symptoms and am not going to totally 'self-isolate' but I am going to think twice about going to social events where I am not 100% sure if people there have been abroad or in contact with those who may be affected. I'm a couple of months off my 80th and I'd like to see it!!ViewDate:

Will you be called upon to help with childcare if schools shut?My daughter already works from home two days a week and could probably extend that. My son-in-law works from home on the odd occasion and could possibly increase those days (the wonders of modern technology!) However, I (and the other Grandmother) would probably step in to allow them to work uninterrupted.ViewDate:

Are newspaper stories to blame for destroying lives?I am not a 'follower' of this lady but was horrified by the number of vitriolic postings made on sites such as Facebook following her death. They allow people, with nothing better to do in their lives, to make unfounded and viscous comments just to see what reaction they get. Salacious tabloids - such as the 'Scum' and 'Daily Smell' are equally to blame as are their readers who thrive on such printed rubbish. Have they no feelings at all for the grief of the families let alone the torment of the person who took their own life.ViewDate:

Are you taking part in Dry January?A glass of wine with my evening meal ( but not always) and, perhaps, a cider or a G&T if I'm watching a good programme on tv at the weekend but that's all.ViewDate:

Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?I know how you feel but it may be worth sending to those nearest and dearest and/or those who have been particularly kind and helpful to you. It's a hard road you are travelling but you won't regret it. Also take what help is offered.ViewDate:

Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?Yes, I do send cards. I post some and hand deliver some. I think cards are important for friends/relatives who live in other parts of the country and also for those who are on their own and/or are housebound. I also like to receive cards.ViewDate:

Is it ever OK to date a work colleague?I married my line manager (50+ years ago) and my daughter married a work colleague. As long as you are adult enough to keep the relationships separate from work what's the problem?ViewDate:

Would you like a ‘standing’ GP appointment? When I go to see a doctor I want to be able to relax and have a face to face conversation. This type of interaction would not be conducive to that and it would seem far more formal and too 'business like'. An appointment with your doctor is NOT the same as face to face interaction with someone in a shop - or even as happens now - someone in a bank. Not for me thank youViewDate:

Do you think the tactics of Extinction Rebellion are justified?I do agree with the core of their protest but, unfortunately, and as usual, the 'headbangers/infiltrators' get involved and that is where the problems start. We do, however, have to look beyond our generation and try and see what we are leaving behind for those yet to come.ViewDate:

Are you fed up with the media hounding Harry and Meghan or do you think it is justified?Their public lives, representing the Royal family, are one thing and their private lives are another. For heaven's sake leave them alone in their private lives and let them have their privacy without all this backbiting.ViewDate:

Do you think planning and pre paying for your funeral in advance is a good idea?Yes, I do think they are a good idea - my husband died recently and he had taken out a plan with the Co-op some years ago so everything was dealt with speedily and without hassle. However, there were still some added costs - flowers, notice in the newspaper, 'orders of service' and the cost of placing the ashes into containers for us to distribute - so choose which plan you want wisely. We had no problem in covering the extra costs (of our choosing) but some people may find it an added burden. I have not yet taken a plan out. For some years I have been seriously thinking of donating my body to the tissue bank but I need to sit down with my two (adult) children to see if they are still in agreement. Whilst my son will be happy for this to happen I did feel that my husband's humanist funeral bought comfort to my daughter. I know they will happily go along with my wishes when I make the final decision but I would want them both to be in agreement.ViewDate:

Do you agree with the TV licence changes for over-75s?Whilst I am willing and able to pay about 43p a day others will find it hard and I think it's a mean decision - albeit due to funding decisions by our "dear beloved government".
