Looking or frienshipHi there. My husband passed away on 28th July and finally no more suffering for him. I live near The Hague in Holland and do not speak Dutch. Both his family and mine not interested at all - my family all live in Canada or Australia. Am reluctant to leave our flat but as am not enjoying the best of health wonder what to do with myself. Have not lived in UK for about60 years so going there is not an option. How does one cope??????ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsDo people feel like me I.e. it is more important to have quality of life than quantity as I feel there is no point in prolonging life if it is not enjoyable. I live in Holland and we are lucky enough to be able to have the possibility of deciding on this choice of whether to keep fighting against nature or having a peaceful end.ViewDate:

Daily diaries of those who are self-isolating due to CoronavirusGood day one and all. I live in The Netherlands in a suburb called Voorburg, which is next to The Hague. I am British but have lived in 8 different countries. I find it quite difficult self isolating as I am a creature who loves to be out and about. I do not know any other English people here although I have been here some years. We have the same problem as in England here with people being greedy, especially with buying toilet rolls and not all the foodstuffs you want can you find. My husband just told me that in the south of the country where the town of Baarle Nassau is divided between Holland and Belgium the shops on the Belgian side are closed and the ones on the Dutch side are open - where is the logic here!!! I had to go out this morning to get my blood checked and was the first patient as wanted to avoid 'the rush' later. Lovely sunny weather here but with a cold wind. We have satellite t.v. so watch all the English programmes, which is a delight to me. love to hear from people as miss the English chat and sense of humour! Please all take care.
