I survivedDescribes my chidhood exactly, which included playing with matches and burning a neighbours hedge for which we got the stick, catapaults bows and arrows, dustbin lids for shields, sledging in the snow with sheets of corrugated iron and gashing our legs.Quite war like we were. But on the brighter side building camps in woods, damming streams with stones and tickling the fish in the pools,Going for 10/15 mile bike rides (hardly any traffic on the roads so feeling safe) and started gardening at probably 6/7 years old and haven`t stopped since. These are just a few of the things,I could go on and on about.I`m glad I had the childhood I did,It prepared me for adult life. Great poem Mick keep going.ViewDate:

Does the phasing out of wet wood and coal affect how you heat your home?Hi Lionel,I agree with most of what you say,but seasoning wood also involves wether summers are warm or not and how small one cuts the wood and how its stacked.I prepare it ready to be burnt, and 2 years is long enough for it to dry out. Regards Steve.ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months? This is tarring everybody with the same brush.I`m 71 this year,at the moment I`m using my chainsaw for logging,I`ve just started the allotment going I supply 90% of our veg. We have an acre of garden to maintain. We walk every day for at least 20/30 mins.House maintence the list goes on.Some people half my age don`t do what we do.Just because some people are over 70 doesn`t mean we`re all frail and can`t resist the ailments going around or that they`ll kill us.Sante` everybody.ViewDate:
