Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?Yes but only to immediate family. I'm donating £1 for every other Christmas card I would otherwise buy to charity, as I have done for several years.ViewDate:

Is foreign aid better spent at home? That's a very 'them and us' question. We're all in this world together and should be helping whoever we can. Of course get the homeless off our streets but we all have to save lives throughout the world, not discriminate. Charity begins at home, and this small world is everyone's home.ViewDate:

Does the thought of families being allowed to mix over Christmas make you feel anxious or relieved?I'm having dinner with my family including two great grandchildren I haven't see for months. Three households total. Then coming home because I don't trust myself not to cuddle the little ones. Sad but a lot better than many will have.ViewDate:

Should The Crown carry a fiction warning?Anyone who has lived through the Queen's reign will know that most of the programme is fiction. The young are impressive and believe most of what they see on television so how can they respect the Royal Family when being fed such a lot of the writers imagination?ViewDate:

Would you like it to snow at Christmas? It's bad enough not being able to see the family since March. snow would ruin it for everyone who has to travel.ViewDate:

How Princess Diana’s fashion in The Crown compares to real lifeJust my opinion but I find this quite distasteful. Prince Charles is married to the Duchess of Cornwall, How very cruel it is of the media to incessantly turn Diana into a 'celebrity' while two people are trying to life the life they should have had many years ago. As I said, just my opinion.ViewDate:

Does turning the heating on lead to conflict in your house? There's just me and the mog so I try not to turn it on too much in the daytime but the look he gives me when it starts to get chilly pricks my conscience. Blooming cat, it's his fault if sometimes the heating bill is higher than allowed for!ViewDate:

Are you taking a late summer overseas holiday or have you postponed your plans? Not just postponed, cancelled any idea of flights for the past 4 years and will go on doing so. Although Covid is in the forefront of our minds we mustn't forget the need to rescue the planet from the damage we've inflicted on it. We live on a beautiful island, why not appreciate what we have on our own doorstep?ViewDate:

Do you have confidence in the test, track and trace strategy? No, not really but it's all we have so guess it's better than nothing.ViewDate:

Would you have a fake lawn in your garden?Absolutely not! We need to rid the world of plastic not encourage people to use more. I could no longer manage the small lawn so have had the garden hard landscaped. I have lots of small trees in pots to try to help the environment, lavender and buddleia to attract bees and butterflies and an insect hotel built with the help of my grandchildren.ViewDate:

Have the new coronavirus rules gone far enough? We were warned months ago that the next big wave would come in October so can't understand why so many changes and easing up of rules keep taking place. We should still be in lockdown, vulnerable people such as myself should still be shielding and schools and uni's should not have resumed yet. The government talks about putting Covid Marshalls on the streets, we already have soldiers on the streets sleeping in doorways and begging for food. These guys are already military trained and desperate for a new start in life, So why don’t we go round the streets and offer these people the post of Covid Marshall, give them back some pride and a pay packet to get them back on their feet as the Government put them there in the first place. Maybe house them together so they can have a community where they understand each others PTSD and other active service related issues.ViewDate:

Are you taking a late summer overseas holiday or have you postponed your plans?Neither, I've seen much of the world and am now discovering more of this beautiful country we live in. People seem to have forgotten about saving the planet with all the panic of Covid 19. They're as important as each other so we mustn't forget either.ViewDate:

Are you inclined to take up the Government's offer - 'Eat Out To Help Out'?Exactly how gullible are people? The tab is to be picked up by the treasury, but we the little people are going to pay eventually.ViewDate:

Are you a 'Silver Streamer'?Far too occupied with productive interests than to spend my life in front of the television or the computer. More than 1 1/2 - 2 hours a day and my head goes into a fog.ViewDate:

Do you believe in Middle Child Syndrome?National Middle Child Day? Another American invention the gullible are sucked in to. I'm the parent of three children who were all treated equally and grew up to lead happy, fruitful lives both in their careers and their private lives. If a middle (or first, or last) child doesn't feel as valued as their siblings, one has to ask - whose fault is that?ViewDate:

Do you enjoy seeing urban foxes?I don't enjoy knowing that humans have encroached on their territory so they have to forage in built-up areas. People are selfish and greedy and we are putting up buildings day after day which destroys the countryside.ViewDate:

Has lockdown made you more likely to shop online in the future?Yes, but only as long as 'in future' means during lockdown. I enjoy shopping around for value for my money and do like to see an item especially before making an expensive purchase.ViewDate:

Will you opt for the flu jab this year?I have no reason not to. Not had flu for many years since first having the vaccine and am very grateful indeed that out NHS still offers such a valuable service for free.ViewDate:

Should all GP appointments go online? There is a place for both online and f2f consultations. Each should be triaged and directed to the appropriate method. Personally I've not had any difficulty with either and appreciate the system.ViewDate:

Is a second national lockdown for vulnerable over 50s the right way forward?Under 30's have proved they can't behave or follow guidelines while we have done all we can to keep ourselves safe. Time to turn the tables so we can do our shopping while they have to stay home and mull over how selfish so many of them have been.ViewDate:

Are you inclined to take up the Government's offer - 'Eat Out To Help Out'?No as am still shielding and not inclined to put myself at risk by going to restaurants no matter how 'safe' the distancing is said to be.ViewDate:

Are you deterred from going on a cruise or happy to keep sailing? Not keen to cruise. I've done 2 short and one longer, and I was bored. Confined to the boat for 2/3 days at a time, allowed off for 5/6 hours then back to the boat again. My holidays involve seeing a country off the beaten track, eating where the locals eat, keeping away from the tourist areas and so on. So nothing to do with Covid, I'm just a bit more adventurous than that.ViewDate:
24th Jul 2020sparrer commented on:
Has lockdown made you more likely to shop online in the future?I can't afford to shop on line. Special offers and reduced items, which I have to buy if I want to eat, aren't available on line. And the delivery charge could buy me a few days food if I shop in store. Add to that, I live in a quiet cul-de-sac so by going out even at quiet times I get to see people. Happy to wear a mask and take all other precautions so I can leave the house a couple of times a week.ViewDate:

Should the new Covid-19 vaccine be made optional or mandatory? We know nothing about the long term side effects of this vaccine, so I shan't be accepting it until it is proven not only successful but 100% safe in a few years timeViewDate:

Do you prefer traditional books or audiobooks? It has to be a traditional book for me. There's nothing like the feel of a book in my hands, much more preferable to a headset covering my ears. Another advantage is when I fall asleep it's easier to find my place than it is trying to run back though 'virtual' pages to find where I was!ViewDate:
24th Jul 2020sparrer commented on:
Will you opt for the flu jab this year?I always have the flu jab as I can't take risks with my health. Since being diagnosed with COPD some 14 years ago I've had 'the jab' and not once had flu. It may not be some some but I'm happy to continue having it.ViewDate:

Will you be visiting your local pub this weekend?Pubs now opened, four youths got in a car while drunk and an innocent person sitting on a bench at the side of the road died. Oh, and the ambulance service was called out to drunks all weekend, exactly like it was before lockdown. I, and the majority of my friends, don't drink so we'll not be visiting a pub but will look out for drunks and not just at the weekends.ViewDate:

Do you use chemical weed killer?A daily stroll round my little garden every day to pull any weeds is all it needs. Stubborn ones are dug out with a weeding tool or if that doesn't work I go on the attack with boiling salt water. That's a very last resort though, I like instant results and it takes too long for them to die back. And not good for cats paws.ViewDate:

Has lockdown made you consider moving home? No. I love my home and have spent the last 18 years turning it into the little sanctuary it is today. It would have to be something far more drastic than a virus to make me move.ViewDate:

Would you eat lab-grown meat? No. Why would anyone making this choice feel the need to explain themselves? On the other hand, do those who voted yes truly realise what they'd be doing to their bodies?ViewDate:

Will you be venturing to the shops this week?Having been shielding for the past 3 months I've grown to appreciate a new way to shop. I go on line, choose what I want and my family buys it for me using staff discount from the various stores they work for. Then I transfer the money to them and it's delivered to my door by very polite delivery people giving me time to do what I want, what could be better?! -
