Is a second national lockdown for vulnerable over 50s the right way forward?Well said, Pamela. We have so many things going on in churches all over the country and you don't even have to be there. No chance of suffering from loneliness or mental health eh? You are never too old to learn.. Stop learning new things and your brain soon dies!ViewDate:

Is a second national lockdown for vulnerable over 50s the right way forward? Please, please.... loneliness and mental health are preventable. There are lots of befrienders out there who would be happy to chat and befriend you, But you yourself have to make the first move, Contact the pastors at local churches, talk to someone at charitable organisations like AGE UK (almost every town has one of those). If you just sit at home and wait for someone to knock on your door to offer help, you'd be sadly dissappointed. Pick up the phone (every one has a phone, whether landline or mobile) and start connecting with someone from churches, and charities. Sorry to sound rude or harsh but we all need to be more positive by taking more actions ourselves, not depending on Government help all the time!ViewDate:

Is a second national lockdown for vulnerable over 50s the right way forward? Please do not go down the 'compensation' route. It is your life that is at stake and it is your choice to take precautions, as advised, or do whatever you like. Nobody owes you anything!ViewDate:

Is a second national lockdown for vulnerable over 50s the right way forward? My husband and I have both been shielding since early March and we have no problem with staying that way. We have been buying our groceries online, rotating from Tesco - Morrisons - Iceland - Asda with good result and not paying for more than £3.50 for delivery. We've also got a very good couple of friendly neighbours who 'top up' whatever we missed from our weekly online shopping, whenever they go shopping at Morrisons, Co-Op, Aldi, or Lidl. Got plenty to occupy us as we are re-modelling our house, with hubby doing most of the work although I do most of the cleaning up and painting. We are also able to enjoy our homegrown vegetables too, as I am a very keen and enthusiastic amateur gardener. We also spend a fair amount of time using technology to communicate with loved ones overseas, and friends, using video-conferencing and whatsapp to name a few. So, we do not foresee a problem at all should the second lockdown be implemented. Yes, it would be disastrous for the economy but we could always build up businesses again. Without good health you have no chance to do anything, but add to the drag of the economy through sickness claims and use of the NHS!
