Keto - have you tired it?That is really interesting Cris, perhaps my gran getting to 96 and my Mom being 97 on a more fat based diet is no accident. I hate going to my daughters and having to endure fat free milk. It's just like water. I feel a whole lot better about full fat milk on my cereal now..ViewDate:

Just joined, and introducing myselfI'm sorry for slow reply, my wife's folks were from a little village called High Bentham near to the three peaks, I used to love going to the area but haven't been for a while, I intend to rectify that this coming June. I'm in Worcestershire, today has been really bleak here but my Son in Law was considerate enough to find me a job laying wooden flooring. I can't straighten now so it seems like an early night.ViewDate:

Anyone like to chat?sorry Mosquito, I'm not good on here, I loved it fruit picking as a kid, in the days when the natives used to do it, school holidays were great. I spent many happy hours fishing at Evesham as well as a youngsterViewDate:

Scrap the Sovereign Grant?I have to admit, I look around the world and truly thank my lucky stars I've had seven and a half decades in a very stable country. I tend to think that stability is largely due to our tradition and history. There are too many people trying to rewrite our history at the moment and I think it will only result in a bigger surge of patriotism.ViewDate:

Gaining opinions from others regarding your tattooI looked quickly on that site and it was impressed with the woman who lost a lot of weight late in life in order to have her tattoo's which gave her a real 'feel good' factor. there must be something therapeutic about having them.ViewDate:

Scrap the Sovereign Grant?Listening to the points of view and assessing things, there are a number of royals who work exceptionally hard, it would be nice to be able 'defund' the time wasters. I don't think I would want to be without our history and identity and I do feel they contribute to trade and tourism.ViewDate:

Gaining opinions from others regarding your tattoomy Granddaughters tattoo's are beautiful designs and well executed but it seems very addictive as though they don't know when to stop having them. What can be deemed as tasteful soon becomes excessive, but then I'm an old man and totally out of touch with the youth of today.ViewDate:

New membersSo sorry to hear that Tania, I was made redundant at 57 but that was in far better times, it took some getting used to but after a few months I realised it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I hope you bounce back and things work out just as well for you.ViewDate:

Gaining opinions from others regarding your tattooManuel, I dislike tattoo's, but I respect other peoples right to do as they please with their bodies. My children and grandchildren all have them. It's only my opinion but some of the tattoo's will look hideous in later life. I sometimes wonder whether, also, there could be a health danger associated with them as we 'breath' through our skin. I have got numerous 'piercing' marks of which I'm very proud. Those are where I have given blood most of my life,ViewDate:

Would you vote to legalise euthanasia?I cared for my wife with terminal cancer for years and to the very last had hope and encouraged her to hope. If I had been party to 'prematurely' taking her life I could not live with myself now. Her pain was managed expertly by a network of palliative care and she was comfy until she passed away at home.ViewDate:

The day afterWon't it be lovely to get back to normality, to smile at people and laugh with them again doing simple things, like going about your shopping. Go to the theatre again or a sports event. Most important of all be able to hug your kids and grandkids again.ViewDate:

Scrap the Sovereign Grant?I, too, have always been a royalist but when you put costs like that in front of people, you have to question what we get for our money. Add a similar amount for the House of Lords and suddenly our Health Service could look in very good shape.ViewDate:

Hello - looking for like minded friends to chat withHi Beatrice, I was interested in your comment referring to local art classes still being open because they come under adult education. Before covid I was looking for new interests and was about to join the U3A. I didn't pursue it thinking it would all close down, in the light of what you've said, that may not be the case. MasksI did try hard to use a Hearing Aid, Lionel, I guess it was me, I found it uncomfortable. My wife always accused me of having 'selective deafness. I seem to handle it fairly we and it works great as a ploy with the grandkids to get them to speak up. Mind you, from what you're saying I may have got off lighter than yourself.ViewDate:

MasksLionel, I never associated high noise levels with other than industrial machinery. It never occurred to me you could get high noise levels in such an environment. Subsequently they found anything over 80 db could cause permanent damage. That is a high level, I think the highest I was subjected to was about 110db and that wasn't as consistent as you must have experienced.ViewDate:

MasksI hate wearing a mask, I fully appreciate the need for them but everything becomes so difficult. my only real impediment is being slightly deaf, as a result of industrial noise. I could compensate for this quite well by lip reading, I never realised to what degree I used this as a 'backup' until face mask were imposed on usViewDate:

Dog grooming - are you doing it yourself at the moment?I have tried but I think I'd have been better leaving his coat as it was, I used the electric clippers, he gets a lot of sympathy when I take him for a walk now, so he's quite happyViewDate:

The day afterDumfries and Galloway would be a lovely part of the UK to Hot Air Balloon, the midlands is quite built up but there is still some stunning scenery, The other option I've thought of for my 'bucket list' is a flight in a glider, may also be slightly warmer. let's hope this wretched virus is soon behind us and we're back to normalViewDate:

Son's wedding (not invited)how terrible, family can be so cruel at times, my Grandson's new girl seems to have the same ploy in mind. We've always been so close, but that also is our strength because at some stage that family love will prevail and I'm sure it will for you too.ViewDate:

Hello in the LockdownEllie, I live in the midlands but I'm interested in your comment regarding lovely walks in Kent. My daughter lives on Sheppey and I haven't explored as much as I would like to down there. I've been unable to, but now I can get to my daughters more often. Id love to know any really nice walks. I've a book on the Saxon way and intend to do sections of that but I'm sure there are many more beautiful places in the 'Garden of England'.ViewDate:

The day afterIt seems so long since we could have a proper family gathering, My eldest girls 50th passed without a proper celebration. I know people have lost much more due to this horrendous virus, but its as you say MossyStone you can't beat a fun time with your family.ViewDate:

Wet WeekendI'm not so bothered about them but my wife would throw a bit of a 'wobbly; with them, hence the 'conkers' which I think was an Old Wives Tale. It kept her happy to think she had a deterrent to them taking up residence.ViewDate:

Wet WeekendI bet it hurts not to go to watch them, especially with Bolton being next up. That would be a good game to put in a performance in front of a home crowd. Shropshire is a beautiful county I haven't explored as much as I'd have liked to but hopefully will do soon. There are so many places yet to discover, quite close to home.ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Youre right 1965, its a horrible empty feeling made worse by this Covid business. As a couple you knew you could handle it but alone it becomes such a task. I'm lucky my eldest girl and grandsons are only 15 miles away, but they are busy on the treadmill and its not the same as your own age group.ViewDate:

The day afterI think I'd have a family gathering, either for a meal or better still take them on holiday all together. I cant believe one nation can inflict so much tragedy and despair on the rest of the world. I avoid wherever possible purchasing anything with components made in China, now.ViewDate:

Wet WeekendI hate being couped up, but it hasn't been as bad here as elsewhere and I still managed a couple of small walks with a reluctant dog. Which team do you support Shrew, I am a long time 'sympathiser' of Birmingham. At least supporting them its taught me to cope with life's adversities. I'm safe here from flooding but not far away is the River Severn which snakes a couple of hundred miles collecting rain water. It invariably bursts it banks in the lower reaches..ViewDate:

How we lived in the FiftiesYou're right, Shrew, support is the wrong word in respect to football opposition in the 50's but you did look forward to the more skilful footballers coming to town. It's become much more 'tribal' although better with the seating and being non smoking. I very much agree with you, in as much as, I wouldn't change my childhood for youngsters today. We had space to explore. These days if its not fenced off its been built on. I have to smile when they say there is a problem with 'plastic pollution'. All our toys were made from leather, wood, lead, diecast and bakelite. Its amazing how quickly we've created a problem.
