Making new friendshi there nice to hear from you and hope the weather is good for your walks. here it's been raining almost everyday with high winds though not cold. i still go for walks each day despite not having my little dog who died two months ago. i do miss her as she was about 15 years old and i'd had her for 10 years. she was a stray dog that i took in when living in italy and brought her back when i returned to scotland five years ago. i still do my walks along the beach which i enjoy and think it's important to get out and get some exercise. the tv is tiresome and i spend some time watching gardening and repeats of poirot and miss marple (only joan hickson) but i make sure i ration it out or there's a danger of just sitting staring at a lot of rubbish. i have a kindle and do read quite a lot though i have the beginnings of a cataract which makes it a bit difficult but i can still see enough to read. oh the joys of getting old!!!i'm thinking of going away for a short break october/november but at the moment not sure where somewhere with a bit of sunshine perhaps. do you go on holidays? how long have you lived in sussex? look forward to hearing from you, best wishes sheilaViewDate:

New Memberhi there, just read your post not sure how this forum works yet but thought i'd send a message to see if i manage to reach you. i too have moved to a new area but not so rural i do know that it feels isolating at first but it depends what you like doing and you can be lonely in a city having lived in london for over twenty years i know that's true. i like to chat but don't mind being on my own. having said that i've had a little rescue dog for 15 years and sadly she died two months ago so i do miss her company and walks each day. i did think of getting another dog or cat as i've always lived with animals but i think for the time being i'll wait as it does mean i can go on holiday whenever without having to worry about what to do about pets. i hope you enjoy your new home and if this message reaches you do get in touch.ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.hi there read your introduction with interest. like you i went to university as a mature student and followed the academic path for years part time until ended up as a lecturer on a two year contract. i hated it not the students they were lovely but the staff were very unfriendly it was so political everyone jostling for the upper hand so you didn't miss out on anything. i too live alone and have done for many years like you my children are all adults now and don't make contact unless asking for something usually financial help! it sounds as if you live in a nice area and that's a positive. i've been ill for the past five years but determined to keep mobile as long as possible i'm now 80 years old can't believe it where did all those years go? i live near the sea and outside is nice and flat so i can walk along the promenade for a while and have decided that when i can't i'll get a nice snazzy little mobile scooter and whizz along for my shopping. good luck -
