Every working person needs and is entitled to time off and this traditionally has been the weekend, but it doesn't have to be these two particular days. Surely it makes sense to have surgeries open at weekends to prevent undue and unnecessary pressure in A&E at weekends. The problem is that we simply do not have sufficient doctors to implement a rota system. No one wants doctors to work seven days a week, but 7 day surgeries must be the way forward. Becoming a doctor and a GP must be made more attractive. The culture these days in all professions is that people are expected to do more and more and more without any incentive; any reward.
