Would you have an artificial lawn in your garden? My "lawn" is deliberately kept quite rough with a fair share of weeds and wild flowers. My garden attracts numerous birds, grey squirrels, hedgehogs and the occasional fox and badger. This is a built-up area and I think the general roughness of the lawn and other areas helps to attract wildlife. Badger snuffle holes are often to be seen. I would much rather look out of my window at something natural, if a bit unkempt, with wildlife enjoying the "facilities", than onto a pristine manicured set-up without wildlife.ViewDate:

Simple ways to live more sustainablyRef. the item about showers versus baths, it depends what sort of shower you use and how long you stand under it. A couple of minutes under a simple gravity fed shower is very cheap but ten minutes under a "power shower" is likely to be very expensive in water and electricity. I have never understood why people need more than 2-3 minutes under a shower. I don't think longer it gets you any cleaner.ViewDate:

Simple ways to live more sustainablyThe idea of paperless is great in theory. But, money laundering regs. often require proof of id. and current address by means of an ORIGINAL and recent bill from a utility company or the local council etc. A copy printed on your own printer is not acceptable. I have known companies who require 3 different proofs - so passport and driving licence provide 2 of them but then, with paperless, you're stuck for the third. And they won't bend the rules even thought the staff demanding the stuff think it's pointless. So, somebody needs to do something to change the types of document required for the money laundering regs. so that it fits with the paperless world. Maybe SS has some influence somewhere.
