Do you think charities are too aggressive when it comes to raising money? There are many charities that are fully worthwhile causes and it seems that it is their own success that drives them to these collecting companies that are causing the problem. They charities themselves just don't seem able to meet demand so they bring in outside help. If you want to support your chosen charity without the hassle then do as I do - I support RNIB and Guide Dogs (as my partner is blind), RNLI becuase I admire their bravery and commitment and Help For Heroes. I do it by using the collecting pots at the various counters or when collectors are in the supermarket. This way I can make my donation when I choose to without the hassle of mail and telephone pestering.ViewDate:

Should smoking be banned on British beaches?Well magsamum, every smoker I speak to NEVER throws their butts on the ground so who is creating this mess that costs councils millions every year to clean up? Smokers generally have low personal standards and don't mind their breath, clothes, furniture, houses, cars and the people around them smelling like stale ashtrays so it is plain that they have no qualms about littering either. Oh, and what causes lit cigarettes to jump from a drivers hand and be deposited into the slipstream then? The sooner it is banned from all public places the better (and while driving as well) I like the idea of banning it from beaches as our local beach, which is popular, is covered in dog ends and dog muck - but that's another matter.
