Is foreign aid better spent at home?Foreign aid should be used to benefit the people and not line the pockets of corrupt dictators. Also it should not be swallowed up in admin costs. If foreign aid is used wisely, it could help poor countries set up projects and programmes that would help out and put a curb on this incessant refugee problem that doesn't seem to end. It's no good throwing money at the problem. It should be used for specific purposes.ViewDate:

Should over 70s be banned from voting on the country's future? That's absolutely crackers. You're denigrating yourself.ViewDate:

Should over 70s be banned from voting on the country's future? When the younger generation have made as much of a contribution as the older generation have, then they can be free to comment. Until then they should keep their mouths shut. It's funny they don't mind taking money from the older generation when it suits them!ViewDate:

Should parents have the option not to vaccinate their children? These parents who don't vaccinate their kid, should remember that this affects other children too, as when their kid picks up a virus, they can pass it on. Its just selfish and irresponsible not to get your kid vaccinated.ViewDate:

Are you leading a 'healthy life'?Up until five years ago I was obese and drank and smoked too much. I smoked 25 a day and used to drink 16 cans of layer every other day. I ate mainly fried food and worked shifts in social care. Sometimes I'd do 24 hours straight off, doing 2-10 then a sleep in 10-7 then another shift 7-2. 24 hours! This resulted in me developing Leukaemia 4 years ago. It was a big battle. I had a stem cell transplant and suffered over 20 infections but I've managed to come through it. An unhealthy lifestyle was the root cause of this and I was lucky to get through it.ViewDate:

Is obesity a lifestyle choice or a disease?Fat people are to blame for their fat bodies. People today are bone idle and eat far too much and don't exercise. Back in the fifties people were far more energetic and fat idiots stood out like a sore thumb. Women especially these days are lazy and slow. Many are also greedy and eat too much.ViewDate:

Is a 'stiff-upper-lip' mentality partially to blame for today's mental health problems? It would have been very interesting, as my dad used to say, if this country had been invaded in the last war. There would have been a lot of resistance but a lot of collaboration as well. Its all very well to talk of strong or weak people, but its our own take on life and our upbringing that makes us who we are. The influence of parents is crucial too. As well as that, the circumstances of life mould us as well. Some people just get a raw deal.ViewDate:

Should there be a specified age to retake your practical driving test?Recently in Coventry, we had a bus driver of 80 years old who was doing long shifts crash and kill 2 people. Driver should stop at 65 for their work. All drivers not matter what age should be tested every 5 years from 17.ViewDate:

What is the greatest challenge to good mental health in later life?I've found that other people can have a big impact on an individuals well being. There are some really nasty people out there. They will lie and cheat to get what they want and exploit any weakness. People are lucky if they come from close big families who can support each other. I am an only child with elderly parents and at times it was no bed of roses.ViewDate:

The future of the Labour party!I voted labour but feel let down by the uncontrolled immigration. I now have a Polish family one side of me and a Romanian family on the other. They all work but its just not right. I don't believe or trust any one anymore and that includes the royals. They're just a bunch of scroungers. Our only hope is to leave the EU asap.ViewDate:

Millions still using mobile phones while driving, research suggestsNever mind these daft electric cars which cost 40 grand or the self drive rubbish because middle class women can't park properly. What they should be doing is installing a gadget that automatically cuts off the engine as soon as someone tries to use a mobile while driving. Also the engine should detect if someone has been drinking and not start. Its well within the capabilities of modern technology today.ViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyHello, my name is John. I'm 62 and live in Coventry England. I'm retired now but used to work in social care. It was a forced retire really, as 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with leukaemia, but after a stem cell transplant, I have been in remission for nearly 18 months. I'd like to chat to someone online. I also have a partner that I care for.ViewDate:

Grammar schoolsI went to a public school from a council flat. The difference being that the school was catholic and I had an assisted place. I was shunned by some at the school because of my background, very friendly, but when their mother's found out I was from a council estate, there was little close contact with me socially. Indeed they were great friends with continental students who boarded rather than me. Echoes of remainers in Brexit! Same class, same prejudice! Educationally, my school was not so far ahead of the local catholic comprehensives. I'd go as far as to say, that if I went to my local school, it wouldn't have made much difference, but I would have preferred to have gone there as most of my friends were there. As a catholic child however, I didn't have a choice.ViewDate:

Should Britain stay in the EU or is now the time to leave?I've been on holiday recently to Bulgaria and Croatia and work with Poles and Romanians and the thing is with all of them, they are very enthusiastic about the EU and want to take it further. They don't want wars and until recently were ruled from Russia. They don't want to go back to that. They don't really understand sovereignty like we do and they're looking for a federal Europe. I think that's right for them but definitely not for us. We are an island with our own traditions etc. We will never be comfortable if we stay. That's the secret. What are we most happy with? -
