Do you feel lonely at times?I fail to see what good a minister will do. The problem is at local level. Communities are disappearing due to centralization of everything and closing down local post offices, banks, shops, libraries etc. Closer communities mean more opportunities for communication.ViewDate:

Should the government take a firmer stance on obesity? We did not have this problem when I was growing up, mainly because we did not have money for extras and only had treats at Christmas. The shops did not sell the range of foods they do now, so it was rare to see an overweight child. The third reason, of course, was that we spent all our time playing outside to burn off the carbs. Our parents were not overweight because the money went to feed the children, plus, the work they did was manually intensive and we all walked everywhere. We should not be relying on governments to curb our appetites. Instead it should be done through education, cutting the costs for swimming pools and providing safe areas for children to play outside. Overweight children become overweight adults.ViewDate:

Do you pay 5p for a plastic bag or take your own?I now bring my own bags just as I did thirty/forty odd years ago, when my children were small. Somewhere in between we switched to plastic bags with more supermarkets opening in the area. The difference now is that I shop usually once a week whereas, when the children were small, I usually shopped every day, buying everything fresh from the butcher, the baker, the grocer, and having my milk delivered. I only needed one bag usually. Now I bring half a dozen large bags with a few in my handbag for extras. I actually prefer to use my own bags as they are much stronger.ViewDate:

Is “old” an age or an attitude?I say age because I feel the attitude is what we have came to expect from the youngsters these days, towards our so called 'ageing population'. I say to them, "with any luck you may have this privilege of growing old some day". Whether you have attitude or not, you will not stop the process of ageing.ViewDate:

Have you changed your mind? Why should you have to give up a large portion of your home value if you need care for dementia! Those who don't bother with owning their home will get it all free. This society rewards the slackers, the layabouts, anyone who hasn't paid into the system. Yet those who worked hard to provide for themselves in retirement get hacked for everything. The Tories will keep on taking, so long as people are ignorant enough to keep voting for them. Do you think the money taken away via means tested winter fuel payment will be used in a considered way for those who need it most? Wrong. It will go for more Tory vanity projects which we can't afford, while the poorest pensioners freeze to death.ViewDate:

Should the Winter Fuel Allowance be means tested? For all those voting yes, just send yours back if you don't need it. As I get older I find I need the heating on higher over the winter, especially here in the north east of Scotland. The bills are horrendous anyway since our utilities were privatised.ViewDate:

Has Theresa May got the right financial balance for pensioners? For a start, pension is not a benefit. Pensioners have paid well over the years for their pension. The extras, like winter fuel allowance and a free bus pass, were put in place for good reason. If you believe the government, and the media, they want you to think that all pensioners are now so well off, they ought to be stripped of more of this wealth. Young people are blaming the older generation for lack of jobs and being unable to buy a house. Well, that is down to government policies and greedy bankers! So, why pick on pensioners? Well, it's because the Tories have saturated most other forms of taxation, cut benefits for the poorest in society, and have spotted another source of revenue. I find it utterly disgusting that any party would penalise the most vulnerable sections of society while decreasing taxes for the richest.ViewDate:

Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised? If your gas and electricity bills have dropped dramatically since privatisation, you must be the only one in the country. Mine have increased by about twenty fold, and that is taking account of my family all going their separate ways. As for Posties, now they work till evening and pull a huge trolley around, for less pay too, most just part time. Mail is delivered later and later, and here it is collected at 9am. What use is that for anyone? Railways improved? I dont think so. The price is exorbitant and never a week goes by but another one has broken down. Short memories?ViewDate:

Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised? Now the trains are still late, cost the earth and keep breaking down. You can fly from Aberdeen to London for £25, one way, yet by rail it is over £300!ViewDate:

Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised? Those with shares in these companies will not want to lose out. Personally, I think it is a scandal that huge profits are being made by private companies, on what should be basic services to our communities. Everyone will ask where the money is going to come from, but the UK government always manages to come up with the money for their own pet projects, not forgetting the numerous wars we get involved in. They have practically sold off most of Britain's assets, yet the debt keeps increasing! The country needs sources of income which do not rely on continually upping taxes, because all that does is reduce spending power. Basic housekeeping!ViewDate:

Should the State Pension be means tested?Who are these people voting 'yes'? State pension is not a benefit, it is a right, paid for in full!ViewDate:
