Throat Cancer ShockGod love you, it really is quite a road to travel. But rest assured that you will soon get into the swing of things, despite the worry and stress. Mark the beginnings and the ends and Cross each treatment off on the calendar as you go and you will be surprised to soon find there are less days ahead that behind you. I’m sure you could get a mild sedative for your radiation to help with your claustrophobia under the mask? Look forward, not back. Take every bit of help you are offered and if it’s not enough, don’t be afraid to ask for more. Everyone will be willing to do anything they are asked, no matter how little! Sit back, be kind to yourself, enjoy the sun, pile of good but easy books ....... and good luck!ViewDate:

Clever uses for shaving foamIf you are hunting for relatives in an old graveyard where the headstones are in bad condition due to the years, lightlysmooth shaving foam over the surface and the letters will show. Won’t harm the stone, just wash it off!ViewDate:

How confident do you feel that the Government can deliver Brexit to the benefit of the country? You sound like Donald Trump who obviously wants to destroy the EU..........wouldn’t do to have anywhere in competition with HIS un-United American States. Be careful, very careful, you just might get what you wish for and be ruled by someone similar God help us all.ViewDate:

How confident do you feel that the Government can deliver Brexit to the benefit of the country?Be careful you don’t buy north or South American beef which may be full of hormones. Chickens from who knows where with who knows what fed up on GM grains......GM grain too, esp soy.ViewDate:

How confident do you feel that the Government can deliver Brexit to the benefit of the country? What a mess. Pity the details and machinations thereof were not spelled out in detail before the referendum took place. However, so much criticism of Mrs May is unfair as who amongst you could do better? You cannot just walk out and bang the door behind your. That’s just a silly comment and so inconsiderate to many caught up in trying to make sense of an almost impossible situation that will take years more to finalize. Rather than be sorry to see Britain go, consider that the EU just might be glad to see their back. Sure, the EU has problems, but leaving is not the answer. As Macron said, he grew up near Amiens, surrounded by those cemeteries and memorials everywhere he looked.....there has been no WWIII in Europe since and that is worth something surely? ‘No man is an island’ as John Donne said and that could apply to islands too. Just don’t let Farage, and Bustling Boris be too taken in by their new best friend Donnie Trumpet!ViewDate:

The English question: What is the nation's identity?Let’s get the comments straight.........When referring to Ireland, please refer to NORTHERN Ireland in relation to Britain. The North, as we call it in the South, is not just “Ireland”. Ireland refers to the island, the whole of it. We too are not ‘Southern Ireland’, if you must, please use ‘Republic’ of Ireland’, We are not part of Britain any more, like Britain sadly has chosen to not belong to European Union anymore. Such is history made!!! However, those reading Silversurfers who are not familiar with our shared geography and history would not understand which “Ireland” was being referred to.......ViewDate:

Nutrition for cancer patientsMy friends oncology nurse told her not to worry about her diet as long as she ate fresh fruit and veg, organic if she could afford it, a plain good diet, properly cooked......with nothing on her plate that her grandmother wouldn’t recognize! Very sound advice indeed, for all of us, sick or well.ViewDate:

What are the best traits of a grandparent?Of course it's ALL of them....and letting them do things their parents are fed up with (within reason of course!)........like turning my kitchen into a messy science lab yesterday making "slime". Now my husband has no shaving cream left, the sugar bowl is empty and the place stinks of glue. My little scientists are between 9-12!!!
