A community of support on your doorstep

At Birchgrove, we design our retirement communities to meet your needs in later life. You have the freedom to live as you please in a quality self-contained apartment – without all the burdens of homeownership.

All Birchgrove assisted living apartments are designed to not only be nice to look at, but easy to use too. Appliances in the fully fitted kitchens are all waist height for easy access. The ensuite showers are walk-in, and have simple to use switches, taps and plugs. The doors and corridors are wheelchair accessible for freedom of movement.

Our Birchgrove team are here to support seven days a week with shopping, help with technology or anything else you need. And there’s plenty to keep you occupied. You can socialise and relax with neighbours, or join in with the weekly programme of events and activities. And there’s a host of facilities including library, brasserie, wellness suite – where you can share time and uplifting stories with others. What’s more, everyone is welcome, including your pets and favourite possessions – it’s all part of what makes it stimulating and different at a Birchgrove retirement community.

There’s little doubt the national health crisis has already tested most of us in ways we could never have imagined, but perhaps the over 65s more so. Supporting an older relative during lockdown can be overwhelming. Susan felt she needed to act quickly to support her parents move into a Birchgrove apartment. Susan comments:

“It’s been pretty non-stop for months, what with Covid and my parents’ health. Mum’s been in and out of hospital with issue after issue. And Dad had also deteriorated because of his heart condition. They were both so worried about being alone, in case anything happened and we were running out of ideas on how to support them.

“Despite carers coming in, Mum and Dad really needed the reassurance of having someone always around. We looked at Birchgrove because renting meant we could act quickly and move Mum and Dad into an apartment, which gave us the time to decide what to do with their existing home.

“I really can’t thank the Birchgrove team enough for supporting us through this process. Mum and Dad are now settled into their new home and even beginning to join in with some of the socially distanced activities and make new friends.”

These are challenging times, and everyone is understandably anxious. We take our responsibilities to our residents, staff and visitors, very seriously. Therefore we have stringent COVID-safe measures in place to help us remain COVID-Free.
