Ode to Gadgets

In my cupboard sits a spiralizer
I made courgette spaghetti
You use a handle, not a knife,
Your hands don’t get so sweaty
Zucchini strips swirled out one end,
So low in carbs and fat,
But they didn’t taste like pasta,
So that was the end of that

I bought a dumpling maker
With a double head design
To fill my dough with meat and veg
And save a lot of time
I mixed the flour and cut the shapes,
It left a sticky mess,
So then I gave the kit away,
It caused me too much stress

Next came a shiny French fry cutter
With rubber suction feet,
You peel the spud, then pull the arm,
It did look rather neat
It seems you need quite super strength
To turn taters into chips,
My hands were sore, my muscles ached,
I felt pain in my hips

I placed my latest order
Via click and then collect
A chopper for my carrots
But they were completely wrecked
The squishy orange pieces
Stuck like glue around the blade
The chopper’s now on eBay
For an online auction trade

For now I’m through with gadgets,
I’ll revert to knife and spoon,
Unless of course I see an ad
To tempt me very soon
