With the vaccination programme under way, how likely are you to book a holiday this year?

It has been a year now since we first heard of Covid 19 and quite frankly we are all fed up to the back teeth with it. So, it’s not surprising that some of us are thinking ahead to our annual holiday.

And we’re not the only ones. Holiday adverts seem to be everywhere, enticing us to part with our hard-earned money with the promise of retreating to relaxing sunnier climes or embarking on new adventures, even if just for a week or two.

Nadhim Zahawi, the minister responsible for the vaccine rollout, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “My absolute focus is to get to 13.9 million … offered a vaccine by the middle of February, that is my target and I’m confident the NHS has a plan and we will meet that target.”

The Prime Minister has pledged that the NHS is committed to offering a vaccination to everyone in the top four priority groups by Feb 15 so it looks likely that life could return to some kind of normality by the summer so is it time to consider taking holiday later in the year?

EasyJet has started their Sale today so it would seem that if you are prepared to book early then there are bargains to be had.

So with the signs of light at the end of a very long tunnel, are you likely to be booking a holiday this year? If you are, will it be in the UK or overseas?

With a vaccine on the horizon how likely are you to book a holiday this year?

Even if you are vaccinated you can still spread teh virus to other people. So the question is who would you like to potentially infect? Greeks? Spaniards? French? IF those countries will let you in that is. Doesnt depend only on what's happening in UK either.

Being the eternal optimist, I have booked 2 breaks.

The first a short break to the Picos de Europe with Brittany Ferries in September. The second a Cruise with P&O for December.

I thought long and hard, and choose the September and December dates as being the most probable for holidays to be operating, and restrictions to be more limited then.

Fingers Crossed!!!!!!

We would love to start travelling abroad again but have to bear in mind that other countries may not be up to speed with their COVID management so places won't be as we might wish to find them just yet.
Glad that I live somewhere that has miles of golden beaches of its own.

We are being told that we are short on vitamin D because of shortage of sunshine in this country.
So either take vit supplements or get abroad for some sunshine. Which do you prefer ???

We booked our first cruise to celebrate our Golden Wedding for the end of May this year. We booked it before the lockdown in March last year. As it was a special, one-off event, we booked early so that we could get what we wanted at a price we could afford. We are still hoping it will it will go ahead now the vaccinations are imminent and would support the idea of "no vaccination, no boarding". It is a natural progression from buying travel insurance.

You have got far more confidence in the vaccination plans than I have. Also if the cruise should go ahead I would suggest you get some confirmation that you will be allowed off the ship.

I hear what you say but after a year of gloom we need something to look forward to and plan. I have this week booked 5 excursions from the liner to Rome, Florence etc. If, as you fear, we get quarantined on return, I can think of worse places to be stuck in than a balcony cabin on a cruise liner off the coast of Southampton. Even if we could not leave the ship at any port of call, spending our Golden Wedding on a cruise (our first) would be an improvement over watching repeats on TV.
Second only to socialising with the family, we have sorely missed dining out, the cinema and the theatre, we could do all these on board.
If Covid has taught us anything, it is that time may be shorter than you think. Putting off things you really want to do is now less sensible.

I'm working on it probably being October; September at the earliest, before I can return to my other home in Turkey.

I would love a holiday but there are still too many things changing day by day.
I doubt if a holiday abroad will be possible this year but may be a staycation will happen ?

We were hoping to go to Australia last year to meet our new granddaughter, so we're hopeful that we can do this in 2021!

We had a European road trip planned in 2020 for my 60th. When it didn't happen the ferry companies deferred the tickets to this year. I am hoping that we will be able to push the tickets back a bit as we are due to travel on the 6th April and I don't think that we will have been vaccinated by then. If we can't travel we will lose the money which as we were also going to Greece is 4 ferries

We keep wanting to book a holiday and then lockdown-then we look again. We will book a few trips as soon as we have both been jabbed.
