Relatives

Relatives

Close relatives, or trusted friends? A family bond that never ends,
Inter-twined by blood and trust and love,
An ‘inner circle’ close confined, where anyone can speak their mind,
A family led by guidance from above.

An Uncle or an Auntie dear, are part of these who draw you near,
To someone who is  Niece or Nephew dear,
As close to you as they can get, yet nearer still when troubles let,
This ‘inner circle’ squash the troubled fear.

If you have Family  just like this, congratulate them with a kiss,
For you are truly blessed with love and pride,
From people who will treasure you, and shelter you, from all you do,
And stand with you, forever, – at your side!

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
