Drawing a line

Drawing a line

My wrinkles are a roadmap of all that went before,
The laughter tears the smiles the frowns
The highest highs and the lowest downs

See these furrows on my brow? They were when times were tough,
the times that though we worked so hard we never earned enough.

The lines that gather around my eyes are ones of purest joy,
when the midwife came and told me “Your daughter’s had a boy”

Those jowly lines which many hate were caused by riotous laughter
My lines are staying where they are, they’re my happy ever after.
