A few of the UK’s top track days
There are few better places to enjoy the thrill of the track than at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. You can buy one off experiences, try driving unique and iconic cars and see what it’s like to follow a real Grand Prix circuit. At Silverstone, there’s also the option to go to one of their official track days, when you can receive free in-car instruction and make use of the world-class facilities while driving your own car. But if you’d prefer to try out something from their impressive fleet, the option to hire is always there.
Goodwood Motor Circuit also offers some truly wonderful driving experiences. Located in West Sussex, it’s a top quality track that’s played host to a large selection of racing greats – including Sir Stirling Moss, Jim Clark and Sir Jackie Stewart. Another nice thing about Goodwood is the fact that its experience days are open to drivers of all levels, meaning you don’t have to be an expert racer to make the most of a day out. There are instructors on hand to help you out if you need it and there’s a friendly and non-competitive environment.
Take a trip to Donnigton Park and you’ll find there are some excellent rental deals to enjoy, as well as one most challenging race circuits in the world. Experience the thrill of a circuit that first hosted a Grand Prix in 1933 and which has put world-class drivers to the test ever since. If you’re not sure you’re ready to take on the track yourself, you can also book a high-speed passenger ride.
Great resources for discovering more driving experiences
For a nice big selection of tracks across the country, it’s well worth paying a visit to the Drivers Dream Days site. A supplier of supercar driving experiences that collates offers from a lot of different operators, it’s a great place to find unusual experiences and special deals. You can search by type of experience or by the area that best suits you to help find the fun day out you’re hoping for. For adrenaline-fueled and extreme driving experiences, Unique Track Days is a good place to get started.
If you’re planning to take your own car with you on your experience day, it’s wise to double check whether your insurance and breakdown plan will have you covered. Being a member of an organisation like the RAC can be very handy if you plan to make the most of your time on the track.
