  • Cover from as little as £10 a month
  • Guaranteed acceptance, with no medical questions asked.
  • The premiums you pay each month are fixed from the start of the plan and won’t be increased throughout the term of the plan.
  • At the age of 90, you will stop paying your premiums but still be fully covered.
  • The plan gives you flexibility to reduce your monthly premiums and life cover, as long as it meets the minimum of £10 a month.
  • You can have more than one Over 50s Life Insurance as long as the premiums you pay don’t exceed £50
  • When applying, you can choose a funeral benefit option. Shepherds Friendly work with Golden Charter Funeral Services, the largest independent funeral services provider in the UK. Golden Charter Funeral Services will contribute an extra £300 to your guaranteed cash lump sum, if you choose them to take care of your funeral.
  • The plan gives you access to free bereavement services that offer practical guidance to families going through bereavement.

How does the plan work?

Providing you are between the ages of 50 and 80, you can take out an Over 50s Life Insurance policy with Shepherds Friendly and you will be accepted with no medical questions to answer. When the time comes for your family to make a claim, the society will pay the sum assured directly to the estate.

However, if you choose the funeral option when you apply, the money will be paid directly to Golden Charter Funeral Services, who will add an extra £300 to the value of the fund and handle your funeral arrangements.

What gift card could I be entitled to?

The gift card you receive depends on the amount of cover you have.

You can receive £50 if you open a plan between £10-£19.99
You can receive £75 if you open a plan between £20-£29.99
Finally, you can receive £100 if you open a plan above £30

You will need to pay three monthly premiums and have the plan for 120 days from the date of your purchase to be eligible for an Gift Card.  If you cancel your plan within 90 days you will not receive a voucher.

It is important to remember, that this is not a funeral plan and therefore it may not cover the full cost of a funeral. The life plan has no cash in value at any time, so if you cancel it after the first 30 days you will get nothing back.

The cover will start after the second anniversary of your plan start date, unless you die as a result of an accident, in which case your life cover starts from the date shown on your plan illustration.
