A staggering 92% fear losing their sight

A recent piece of consumer research1 of 240 consumers aged 60 plus showed that the fear of losing their sight was the greatest of all the senses. 92% stated losing their sight, with only 4% worried about losing their sense of hearing.

Many people experience problems with their eyes, some of which develop as they get older. One of the most common eye problems in the older generation is macular degeneration, often called age related macular degeneration (AMD) for this reason.

Approximately 2% of people over 50 years of age have AMD. In people over 65 years of age, the number rises to 8%, with about 20% of those over 85 years of age having the condition. AMD affects central vision, meaning if you were looking at a photograph, you would not be able to see the middle of the picture clearly but could still see the edges.

Discover EyeBar and treat yourself to healthier eyes

A recent study (AREDS2) highlights that
a certain formulation of nutrients can reduce the risk of progression of advanced AMD by
up to 26% compared to a control group whose dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthin were low. Therefore, you should consider your dietary intake and nutritional support if you are concerned with your eye health.
