What Smoking is doing to your health now and in the future

We all know how bad smoking and cigarettes are for us.

We have been bombarded with the negative health messages for decades now but for many of us, we have struggled to kick the habit for good.  But it is never too late to make a change.

The dangers of continued smoking can lead to increased risks of many diseases and health conditions which could definitely slow us down when we are wanting to enjoy our retirement.  From increased risk of heart attacks and strokes, various cancers, respiratory issues like COPD and diabetes, cigarettes are one of the most damaging things we can do.  But even before any of these issues become apparent, smoking can be having a serious impact on the quality of your life now and into the future.

So it’s important to understand that 1 simple change to our lives could have a dramatic impact on how we enjoy our lives in retirement and how much time we get to spend with the ones that we love.

Quitting smoking is not as hard as it used to be.  With the introduction of new smoking cessation products and electronic cigarettes, giving up smoking might be easier than you think.  According to ASH (Action on Smoking and Health), they have found that over 3.2 million adult smokers have used e-cigarettes to break the smoking habit of a lifetime.  And Public Health England state that “e-cigarettes are at least 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes”.

More recently, a study by the University of Dundee has found that “switching to e-cigarettes can reduce the risk of heart attack within the 4 weeks”.  So with many of the predominant health and medical groups supporting the use of e-cigarettes as a healthier alternative to smoking, maybe it’s worth a try.

Because they mimic the look and feel of a cigarette, many long-term smokers find e-cigarettes to be an easy step towards living smoke-free.  They contain No Tar, No Tobacco and they do not produce any 2ndhand smoke, so while not as good as quitting completely, e-cigarettes seem to be a positive tool in helping to live a healthier and more rewarding life.

Our partners SMOKO E-Cigarettes have helped 1,000’s of people around the world to live smoke-free for the last 8 years.  They have prevented over 275,000,000 cigarettes from being consumed and their customers have saved over £100m of their hard-earned money.
