Welcome to the Silversurfers Book Club!

Each season we share a selection of popular book titles and new releases which you may like to read. You can choose to read them on a tablet or an actual paperback, and you can read them in your own time. As and when you are ready, it would be great if you could write a review of the book at the bottom of our comments section and share your feedback with all who have read and reviewed them on Silversurfers. There’s nothing like a recommendation from a friend.

Below are six suggested titles to kick off the new Autumn 2016 Silversurfers Book Club Season… Simply select the title you would like to read, and if you would like to buy it or download it for your Kindle or other tablet, there is a link next to the book title, which will direct you to Amazon, making it simple for you to buy. Alternatively, you may wish to buy the book elsewhere, or borrow it from you local library.

SIMPLY CLICK ON THE IMAGE OF THE BOOK YOU FANCY AND YOU WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE BOOK ON AMAZON … most titles are under £4.00 to purchase and less on a Kindle!

If you have previously read another book, and would like to recommend it as a future read for the Silversurfers book club, feel free to leave the title and author in the comments section, with a brief synopsis, and your review.

I have just finished reading The Ballroom, which I thought was a most intriguing book. The background was unusual, and the main characters well-defined. The author had researched deeply to make it authentic. l was near tears once or twice! Anna Hope has a direct style of writing that draws one in. there were descriptive passages. I have ordered her previous and first, book, Wake.

Just read The Widow. An excellent book which, while not in any way glamorising the facts, gives a thoughtful insight to the various aspects of the situation.

I will definitely be reading some of these books. Just finished The light between oceans by ML Stedman. A moving story about love and loss, right and wrong and made me think what I would have done in the main characters position. Last few pages made me cry !

Have I missed something here? I joined Silver surfers recently. I have looked at two reading lists now and they have been overwhelmingly for female readers. The comments being female, too. As a male avid reader, l presume half of us are being disenfranchised?

Walney. Sorry understand your frustration. Will keep an eye out for books with more of a male tone to pass on to you.
Thinking on it you are correct all female comes to mind
Unless you like. Jack Reacher. .?

Cheers Pamalla

I like the sound of tThe Ballroom, but at the moment I am finishing Diana Gabaldon books. I love books with an intricate historical plot, that takes you into other worlds. Another favourite Author of mine is Barbra Erskine.

The Fire Child by S.K. Tremayne. A must read book. A spine chilling thriller, gripping & sad but with amazing hauntingly beautiful descriptions of Cornwall, the stunning coast & the tin mines. Chilling, utterly compulsive & unputdownable.
