Win a pair of tickets for The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, London

The Knitting & Stitching Show takes place at Alexandra Palace, London from 5th-8th October 2023, and we’ve got five pairs of tickets to give away.

For knitters and stitchers keen to learn new skills, the Learning Curve programme features hundreds of workshops hosted by expert tutors. From complete beginners to intermediate and advanced stitchers, there’s something for everyone.

The Dressmaking Studio by Brother is dedicated to making your own clothes, from an introduction to basic dressmaking to a masterclass in classic couture finishes, and for visitors keen to learn how to use an overlocker, join The Knitting & Stitching Show’s Baby Lock Overlocker Classes. In the Creative Living Theatre, knitting and sewing personalities will be demonstrating new  techniques and hosting catwalk shows. The line-up includes Steffi Stern from The Makerss, Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn, Angela Pressley from The Sewing Club, Isabella Strambio from TwoMe, Jen Hogg from Jenerates, Clive Bruder from Boys Sew Too, Moni Omotoso from Pattern Cutting Deconstructed, and Nerrisa Pratt from Untld Project and The Bargello Edit.

Acclaimed textile artists and groups will be sharing new work in the Textile Galleries, with exhibitions by Art Textiles: Made in Britain (Illuminate), Batool Showghi (Talking Threads), Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn (Rhythms & Reflections), Nneka Jones (Cut From The Same Cloth), Sabine Kaner (Hand Stitched Stories), Selby Hurst Inglefield (Body of Work), and the winner and shortlisted entries for The Fine Art Textiles Award. The Fine Art Textiles Award is an international juried exhibition open to all amateur and practising artists using textiles as their primary medium, and is supported by the Surface Design Association. The award recognises the creative talents and skills of a broad community of high-calibre artists, including quilters, and celebrates textiles’ rightful place amongst high art.

Textile artist, designer and lecturer, Vanessa Marr, will be hosting an installation in the venue’s Palm Court as part of The Duster Project, a collaborative arts project that invites women to embroider their domestic experiences, complaints and celebrations as words and images onto yellow dusters. The exhibition, Women & Domesticity – What’s your Perspective?, will showcase a selection of dusters embroidered by women from across the world, exploring contemporary perspectives on their everyday lives.

The Embroiderers’ Guild will be celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of its Graduate Showcase at The Knitting & Stitching Show with a Graduate & Scholar Showcase Retrospective. The exhibition will follow the inspiring stories of Embroiderers’ Guild graduates and scholars from their selection in 1993 to their work and careers today.

For crafters looking to top up their supplies or do some early Christmas gift shopping, there are hundreds of craft retailers under one roof, from big-name brands to hand-picked artisan companies. The Yarn Village features specialist yarn suppliers, and for cross stitch fans, Stitch Lane is the place to head to for traditional and contemporary designs by independent retailers.

The Knitting & Stitching Show Prosecco Bar is the perfect place to celebrate, catch up with friends and meet fellow stitchers, and there are plenty of food outlets throughout the show to stop for a bite to eat. For visitors preferring to picnic, there are seated areas to rest and recharge the batteries.
