Do you think we’re facing chaos now we’re leaving the EU?I've never been so patriotic about England as now. The ones in Government that have voted STAY IN , now resign and let the ones that wanted us to GET OUR COUNTRY BACK put into practice all what we told them ages ago !ViewDate:

My perfect retirement !Absolutely agree with all your comments, but some people have different circumstances I.e, divorce, second marriages with another mortgage maybe taken out in later life so they can't afford to retire. My lovely Dad died aged only 51 when I was aged 11, and father in law aged 61, so I consider that I'm very fortunate in being healthy. But also I hear other people say that they don't have any intention of retiring ! What suits one person won't suit another. I'm lucky in that I've had a very happy marriage for nearly 47 years, paid off mortgage earlier in life, never moved from place where son was born , he's now 43, so I was able to retire ( even though I only paid the married woman's stamp as my husband is the right age ( 5 years older) so when I was 60, he was 65 so I got a small pension on his contributions. But, yes agree that they shouldn't have changed the goalposts ! They argue that people are living longer, and I think that fortunately we are , but its still no consolation to people that have had the pension moved ! Well, now we've put the world to rights ! .........xViewDate:

My perfect retirement !I know Trampas1955, I don't think it was right that everyone's goalpost was moved ! 2 of my friends have had theirs moved twice ! It's the only time that I am GLAD THAT I'M THIS AGE ! I couldn't do what you do and so I so admire you for that job ! One of the shifts years ago I had was 7.30am 6pm ! So, I too had to get up early !ViewDate:

Planning a family gatheringWe have just had the most brilliant family picnic ever ! My lovely brother in law that is nearly 90 has been suffering from cancer for over a year now and has been told that the chemo has been stopped as it's not doing any good. So, as he loves picnics, I arranged a family picnic. There were 12 of us ! We didn't go too far, STRATFORD UPON AVON, but took the cars onto the grass in the park. The younger ones played quoites and football, we sang songs, my husband took a stove on which he cooked sausage batches after all the food that we'd eaten ! We drank proscetto and just had such a laugh ! He said later that it was the best picnic he'd been on ! Bless him ! All worth it ! P.S weather was FABULOUS TOO !ViewDate:

Child Proof Screw TopsI'm glad that you commented on this as I think the same too ! Bleach is the worst bottle to open ! I have NEVER had a strong grip . Some years ago I purchased a rubber opener that will grip around most tops, HOWEVER, YOU CANT USE IT WITH BLEACH WHERE YOU HAVE TO PUSH IN THE SIDES AS WELL ! sometimes I can do it, but mostly husband has to do it ! I've just Googled this site, maybe I shall take a look for future use ! http://www.welcomemobility.co.uk/Departments/Kitchen/Openers.aspxViewDate:

Advice for a first time cruiser1) PACKING; depending of course on whether you are flying to your ship or going to a port) as to the weight allowed ! We use the lightest case that we've got, especially if flying as the hard cases are heavy to start with !!! But even if you're not, the people that have to put them in your cabin don't want bad backs , so most companies will have a maximum weight ! I make a list of what I'm going to be wearing each evening including underwear, jewellery, accessories to go with each outfit AND STICK TO IT ! When I'm packing them, I use tissue paper and ROLL them, that way less creasing. I then put in the clothes that I will be wearing during the day. Then I pack. I then WEIGH THE CASE ( if going to be flying ! ) if underweight, I know that I can add the extra clothes that I have as standby! ( could always sneak extra into husbands case !!!! ) 2) The other thing that I found is that on a maybe longer cruise you DO GAIN WEIGHT with all that lovely food ! So I NUMBER THE CLOTHES and wear the fitted ones first ! ! I did this after one cruise where I couldn't fit into a new dress because I'd put WEIGHT ON !!! 3) I buy perfume tester cards on EBay as on a cruise you have a small amount of different perfumes to take for each night. Also small enough to take into the plastic clear bag that plane companies make you use. 4) I download programmes/ films from BBCiplayer etc onto my iPad so I have something to watch while on a plane, or onboard the ship. Also ebooks. That saves taking books , although the libraries are always good on ships. Best thing.....ENJOY ! Once you've been on your first one...........BET YOU WILL GET "HOOKED"ViewDate:

Older voters to be guaranteed free bus passes and TV licences! No, pensioners have to be aged 75 to get free TV licences, I , living in West Midlands , DO get a free bus pass, but maybe other counties don't get that concession ?
