Feeling a bit lostMy wife died almost 3 years ago and even now certain aspects of general life sometimes cast me adrift. One major thing is driving as we drove together everywhere. If she was not driving she was my navigator and vice versa. Now off course I rely on Mrs. Google maps and whilst she is an excellent navigator she can't hold a candle to my wife's conversation. One thing I feel sure you will encounter is the over whelming feeling that every body in the world is with a partner. Logically obviously this is untrue but it is something you notice a lot. Don't let this prevent you doing things and going places. One thing I have learnt is that the world has a lot of lovely people in it and most of them love to talk. I have started volunteering which gives you a purpose and you do meet a lot of people in similar circumstances. Look up your local U3a. There is loads of different groups in each branch and there will be something to interest you there. The times when you are on your own with just your thoughts think of all the things you did together over the years and you will be amazed at all the wonderful times you both shared. Keep in contact with your joint friends even if its only the odd phone call. Try and do and learn some thing new and different as often as you can. Enjoy this new stage of life whilst remembering the times with your partner.
