With the vaccination programme under way, how likely are you to book a holiday this year?Being the eternal optimist, I have booked 2 breaks. The first a short break to the Picos de Europe with Brittany Ferries in September. The second a Cruise with P&O for December. I thought long and hard, and choose the September and December dates as being the most probable for holidays to be operating, and restrictions to be more limited then. Fingers Crossed!!!!!!ViewDate:

Dog rescueTotally Agree that finding a rescue / adoption / re homing dog is fraught with difficulty. I have been actively seeking out a small /medium terrier, Tibetan / Wirehaired Fox or an Airedale for 4 months now. The age range would be 1 to 5 years. The new arrival would be a companion to our 7 year old Witre Haired Fox Terrier - Ted The breed rescue sites, seem to trsat applications with total distain, of the three breeds noted above only the Wire Haired offical site actually replied to my application. The national rescue centres are no better either with limited numbers of dogs available. The situation appears to run contradictory to statements that there are a lot of unwanted dogs around, Not at all true from my endeavours. Yes you can purchase a puppy from say £900 - £2500.00. Although I live in Lancs - rural location, large gardens etc., I will travel country wide to pick up the right dog. So in a nutshell rehoming a dog is not an easy option - patience is required even before you get the Dog.ViewDate:

Adopting a rescue dogFinding a rescure dog to rehome is believe it or not pretty difficult at present. I am presently seeking a terrier preferably Wire Haired, Tibetan or an Airedale. Whilst all 3 breeds show associated rescue sites, non usually have any available. Sadly to date only one breed rescue site has actually acknowledged my application to adopt form. I have similarly opened out my search to other breeds, again what is on offer on say Dog's Trust, RSPCA, and Pre Loved are in the main not suitable. Although I live in Lancs I am ptrepared to travel nationwide. Despite annidotal press coverage noting that there are a lot of unwanted Covid dogs out there, few are appearing on sites. Indeed some of the Ads I fear are from Breeders continuing to seek out maximum revenue of around £1500.00. per dog. To say I am rather frustrated is an understatement. So if anyone knows of a WHFT / Tibetan or Airedale Terrier needing rehoming please let me know. Our resident Wuf is a 7 year old Wire Haired, who we reckon needs a little company at present.ViewDate:

Will you take the Covid-19 vaccine when you are offered it?Having given the situation some thought, and processed the information on the testing regimes available to date,my conclusion is to accept the Vaccine as soon as it becomes available. Given the current situation in respect to life etc., I feel that on this occassion I must follow the science and go with the vaccine. First and foremost in mind is the safety of all mankind, not just from Covid, but from all the other situations that the current restrictions cause - i.e. Mental Illness etc. It dosen't happen often but sometimes and I use 'we' have to take a chance in life for the good of all, and this is one of those occassions.ViewDate:

Should there be an upper age limit to be a US Presidential candidate? It's difficult to make an overview on the US when you don't actually live there. However, given that it is the most powerful Country in the World etc., I think if I lived there I would not be happy with Presidents well over 70 years if age. I certainlywould not vote for or support a UK politician over the age of 65 to run for PM. The stress etc associated with the role is greater than that of a CEO of a Multi National. Mind you one only has to look towards the US Congress and there we have a lady in charge who is well over 75!!!! or is it 80!!!!!. TGhe same criticism applies to the UK House of Lords - some of the members cannot stay awake during an afternoon debate, no doubt following a couple of Glasswes of Claret etc. In case anyone chokes on my comments I am 68, and I do practice what I preach. On turning 65 I resigned from my Council, and a number of other volunteer committies - All organisations whether it be a Country or something local need young / middle aged thoughts and ideas. Just the mid afternoon ideas of an active retired person on a beautiful Autumn afternoon here in Lancashire.ViewDate:

Will you be downloading the new tracing app today?Having managed to mangle my original phone last week, I am now in possession of a new all singing and dancing I phone. Loading the App was no problem, and so far I have not received any warning etc. I used the Q Code on Friday and Saturday, really easy to use, and need to search out a list to sign or a slip to complete. It has unfortunately taken a little while to deveop, but for once (Government IT's pas track record is terrible) it appears to be working well. Hopefully a massive reduction in personal risk, for a couple of minutes time to load.ViewDate:

Have the new coronavirus rules gone far enough?Hi All, Right now, I wouldn't really want to be in a decision makers shoes. Sasdly our Media concentrate on the problems, and bad news, as opposed to possibilities and positives, Ok there may not be too many of those around just now. Whilst the current restrictions are tolerable, I do believe that we should not allow Covid to take over our lives totally. Interestingly the Flu season which we just about to enter will sadly claim quite a few souls over the next 6 months. Without doubt we need to have the economy moving - how else will Pension's etc be funded. The current set of rules appear to have the balance just about right. The testing system does need further enhancing, sadly Government IT programmes have never been perfect. Good news that the Track and Trace programme has been launched on an APP, sadly my Nokia although an I Phone will not upload. More accurate date would be great, I live in North Lancs., in a Preston Post Code, frustratingly I cannot access stats rearding where in my area - Preston is Covid Rife. But to come back to my original point there is still more to life that CovidViewDate:

Would you be happy to visit a National Trust garden next week?Excellent idea, most NT Gardens, are in quite spectecular locations, and well worth the effort to visit. Given the limited amount of locations that are officially open, this is one aspect of the lockdown lessening that I fully support. Sadly after walking around the Garden's location, the is no option of either visiting a nearby coffee shop, or indeed sampling a pint of the local visit. Mind you step one the Gardens, is better than nothing -
